NOTE: This package this is a part of supports only the following operating systems. You may be using a package that supports fewer. Supported operating systems (in all cases, both 32- and 64-bit): Windows 2003/2008 RedHat Enterprise Linux 5, Update 4 SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, Service Packs 2 and 3 SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Xen is explicitly not supported. Emulex Linux vNIC driver release version: 2.101.411.0 ATTENTION If you are upgrading the firmware of your adapter from 250.14 to the current release, an offline flash update using a bootable ISO image is required. The included online flash utilities will not properly update the firmware on your adapter. Once the offline flash procedure has been performed successfully, all future updates can be performed with the online flash utilities. To update the firmware and boot code: -Insert the CD-ROM with the newly created, bootable ISO image into the CD-ROM drive on the server in which the OneConnect adapter is installed. -Power off the server and then immediately power on the server. This process loads an abridged version of the Linux operating system (basic initrd and other functionality and mounts the CDROM). -Once the server completes the bootup process, the BladeEngine 2 iSCSI BIOS banner appears with a shell. The program may take some time to load completely. -When the program has finished loading, you are prompted to reflash the firmware and boot code image. Press . The reflash process takes approximately 5-10 minutes. The flash memory is first erased, and then rewritten. When the flash process reports successful completion, remove the CD-ROM from the drive and restart the blade. Observe the IBM UEFI splash screen. "Connecting Boot Devices and Adapters....” appears, followed by dots that trail across the screen to the right. If the row of dots reaches the right edge of the screen and starts over on the same line, you must reboot the blade. 1.0 Overview This is the initial release version 2.101.411.0 of the vNIC Linux device driver. 1.1 Limitations N/A 1.2 Level recommendation and prerequisites for the update The device drivers included in this package are supported on SuSE SLES10-SP2 and SLES10-SP3 distribution kernels. 2.0 Dependencies This driver depends on the following corrresponding CNA Firmware and Boot code version being available and downloaded: s1411002.ufi The management components depend on the following packages: libsensors libcrypto perl/libperl 3.0 Installation instructions For each supported architecture and each supported version of Linux, driver binary RPM files are provided inside the included archive (elx_dd_be2net-2.101.411.0_sles10_32-64.tgz). In addition to these, a utility to automatically install the IBM Driver Tools and subsequently install the proper RPMs for your distribution is included. Run this utility as follows: ./sup_install.sh 3.5 Addendum for Manual Installations WARNING: You should not need to follow these instructions if you are using the installation script. The supported Linux kernels are SLES10-SP2 (kernel rev 2.6.16.60_0.21) and SLES10-SP3 (kernel rev 2.6.16.60_0.54.5). Each RPM file name identifies the operating system version, architecture (i386 or x86_64) and the kernel variant (e.g. default, xen, PAE) that the file supports. For example: elx-be2net-kmp-default-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.21-14.x86_64.rpm elx-be2net-kmp-smp-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.54.5-14.x86_64.rpm elx-be2net-kmp-xen-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.54.5-14.x86_64.rpm elx-be2net-kmp-bigsmp-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.54.5-14.i586.rpm elx-be2net-kmp-xenpae-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.54.5-14.i586.rpm To install the vNIC driver you should find the driver binary RPM that corresponds to the Linux kernel installed on your system. For example, for an x86_64 system with SLES10-SP3 default kernel, the corresponding driver binary RPM is: elx-be2net-kmp-default-2.101.411.0_2.6.16.60_0.54.5-14.x86_64.rpm To install the driver binary RPM file, type: rpm -Uhv elx-be2net-kmp--2.101..rpm To uninstall the driver binary RPM file, type: rpm -e elx-be2net-kmp-2.101. 4.0 Known Issues N/A
