Description/symptom of problem: PM36464 resolves the following problem: ERROR DESCRIPTION: As a WebSphere Virtual Enterprise process is starting, the following exception is logged: HAManagedItem E HAMI0014E: HAMItemMember:com.ibm.ws. odc.xd.HAPluginCfgGenerator_com.ibm.ws.odc.xd. HAPluginCfgGeneratorInterface..... java..lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NullPointerException LOCAL FIX: N/A PROBLEM SUMMARY USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Virtual Enterprise users of the high availability plugin-cfg.xml generation service. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The high availability plugin-cfg.xml generation service fails to start, and a NullPointerException error is displayed. RECOMMENDATION: None As processes are starting, a timing window exists where the high availability manager can attempt to activate or deactivate the high availability plugin-cfg.xml generation service before the service is fully initialized. As a result, a NullPointerException error is displayed, and the plugin-cfg.xml service is not activated. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: The initialization of the high availability plugin-cfg.xml generation service was altered to not register as a high availability item until the service is fully initialized. This change prevents the high availability manager from attempting to activate or deactivate the service before it is completely initialized. This fix will be included in the next available fix pack for WebSphere Virtual Enterprise.
