Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are required to be installed before installing this update.

CICS Explorer1.0.0.4 or later

The CICS Explorer needs to be at this version before this Interdependency Analyzer plug-in update can be installed.

For existing CICS Explorer downloads make sure the version is at least 1.0.0.4 by clicking Help -> About IBM CICS Explorer. It should state the version to be 1.0.0.4 or higher, if not your CICS Explorer installation will need to be updated.

The CICS Explorer by default includes a link to its update-site (http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/htp/cics/updates/explorer/). If it's there you can just update it by selecting Help -> Software Updates... and on the "Installed Software" tab, click on "Update...". It should then find an Update for the CICS Explorer. If so, install it, restart when prompted and then install this CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in as normal.

If there was not an update for the CICS Explorer and your version is less than 1.0.0.4 make sure the default update-site is present in the CICS Explorer. You can do this by selecting Help -> Software Updates... from the main menu. Click the "Available Software" tab and click the "Manage Sites..." and the update-site should normally be there, if not, add it manually by clicking "Add Site...". Once that's done retry updating the CICS Explorer and the update should be found.

Installation Instructions

To install the CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in, there are two options:

  1. Add the IBM-hosted CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in update-site to the CICS Explorer and install it from there: http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/htp/cics/updates/ia/.
  2. Or alternatively download a zipped version of the update-site and install it locally; (known as an archive update-site).

An advantage of using the IBM-hosted update-site is that it is kept up-to-date with the latest version. Users can search for any available updates to the CICS Interdependency Analyzer plug-in periodically within the CICS Explorer. They can choose if and when to install them at their convenience. Alternatively the user can choose to get the CICS Explorer to automatically search for updates and inform the user when they become available.

Otherwise updates can be downloaded on demand from Fix Central, but users will need to check the Fix Central website for any further updates available, and download them as appropriate. Fix Central: http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/
