This fix can be installed on IBM WebSphere Sensor Events server 6.2. 2.0 INCLUDED IN THIS Interim Fix --------------------------------- The following reported program defects are fixed in this update: o IC64214: Barcode reading does not function properly. 3.0 INSTALLATION ----------------- 3.1 Prerequisites o You must have Administrator access to update WebSphere Sensor Events Data Capture. o It is assumed that WebSphere Sensor Events Data Capture is already installed. 3.2 Installation Procedure 1. Unpack the zip file, IC64214.zip, to directory C:\Program Files\IBM\RFID\maintenance. The zip file contains the files: barcode-cfg-import.xml barcode_bundle_list.txt IC64214-readme.txt org.eclipse.soda.dk.barcode.reader.inventory.profile_1.2.0.200912091114.jar org.eclipse.soda.dk.barcode.reader.transport_1.2.0.201001081600.jar org.eclipse.soda.dk.rfid.inventory.profile_1.2.0.200912091114.jar org.eclipse.soda.dk.tcpip.connection_1.2.0.200912091114.jar WebSphere_Sensor_Events.IC64214.fxtag 2. Apply this fix to the Data Capture and Delivery repository as described in technote, "Updating OSGi bundle files for WebSphere Sensor Events". This technote is available at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21404364. For your convenience a sample bundlelist, barcode_bundle_list.txt has been included in this fix for barcode functionality. Please refer to the documentation for installing bundlelists. This documentation is available at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pvcsensa/v6r2m0/topic/com.ibm.wse.doc_6.2.0/install_blremdc.html 3. Apply the barcode-cfg-import.xml included in the zip file to the WebSphere Sensor Events server as described in the documentation, "Importing the configuration file". This documentation is available at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pvcsensa/v6r2m0/topic/com.ibm.wse.doc_6.2.0/admin_importconfig.html 4. To define the beginning character and ending character for the barcode reader, find the properties "beginChar" and "endChar" under the agent org.eclipse.soda.dk.barcode.reader.transport.factory.BarcodeReaderTransportFactory Configure the values of these two properties to be the numeric ASCII code values of the characters required to identify the beginning and end of a barcode being sent from the device. Note: The device will need to be configured to match these same values. Refer to the documentation for "Modifying a device configuration group". This documentation is available at : http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pvcsensa/v6r2m0/topic/com.ibm.wse.doc_6.2.0/admin_moddevconfig.html 5. Certain environment configurations will not quickly detect a device from being disconnected due to the setting of TCP KeepAlive settings. Enable TCP Keep alive on DeviceKit TcpIp connection. Find the property "keepalive" under agent org.eclipse.soda.dk.tcpip.connection.factory.TcpipConnectionFactory Configure its value to "true" as described in the documentation, "Modifying agent properties for a PID". This documentation is available at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/pvcsensa/v6r2m0/topic/com.ibm.wse.doc_6.2.0/admin_modpidprops.html 6. In a disconnect scenario, this barcode support will not be aware that the socket has gone away unless the TCP layer reports that the socket has closed. For this to happen, TCP keepalive messages must flow in short intervals over the socket. For example, some installations of Windows and Linux have default keepalive times of 2 hours. It is recommended that you modify the TCP keepalive settings to get a quicker notification. Please refer to your operating system's documentation for configuration. Refer to the device manufacturer's documentation regarding TCP/IP keepalive for any network devices also in the path to the barcode reader. 4.0 UNINSTALLATION ------------------- 1. Refer to the "Updating OSGi bundle files for WebSphere Sensor Events" technote, available at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21404364 2. Delete the file located at: C:\Program Files\IBM\RFID\properties\version\WebSphere_Sensor_Events.IC64214.fxtag 5.0 TRADEMARKS ---------------- IBM and WebSphere are registered trademarks of International Business Machines Corporation in the United States, other countries, or both.
