Realtime Dataset Metrics
This Web-based user interface lets you examine large volumes of data about data sets.
Version Requirements
- The menu will only be enabled when a Storage agent at v5.5 or greater is connected.
- Navigate to Dataset Attributes System Summary for the "controlling DADBv2 system". The controller DADBv2 system is where the Application or Storage admin has defined the DADBv2 schedule and other options within the PLEX. This is the same system used to provide Dataset Attribute workspace data.
- Ensure that a collection has completed. The menu will not appear until the collection has completed.
- On the Dataset Attributes System Summary workspace, right click on the collection status row and select "Dataset Metrics".
- This will launch your default browser which must be Chrome v54 or later, or Firefox v44 or later.
- You will be shown a login window. You must authenticate with your SAF credentials for the LPAR. Please see the User's Guide for more details on authentication in Dataset Metrics.
The Realtime Dataset Metrics web user interface
The Run Query button queries the default server for data set information, filtered according to the Filter By
criteria specified in the filtering section, and sorted by the current sorting column in the specified sort order.
The Log Off button lets you exit Data Set Metrics.
View By
You can explore data set information through different views. The user can select which view to display by selecting one of the "VIEW BY" options.
Column Groups
The Data Set view has a large number of columns. To give users manageable access to more columns, the Data Set view provides a column group selector.
Filter By
These settings let you specify search criteria for the data sets you want to analyze.
Column Groups
The Data Set view has a large number of columns. To give users manageable access to more columns, the Data Set view provides a column group selector.
Data Set
The Data Set view shows the information for individual data sets. The Data Set view has eight column groups.
HLQ
This view shows data summarized by High Level Qualifier, or HLQ, which is the data set name up to and not including the first period (.), collected by Data Set Metrics data collection. The data in this view should correspond with the data in a new TEP workspace called Dataset HLQ Summary.
The other views (Management Class, Data Class, Storage Class, and Storage Group) show information about the corresponding SMF classes.
Results Table
When you click a column header, the table is sorted in ascending order by that column. Clicking a sorted column reverses the sort order.
