Contents 1.0 Installation requirements 2.0 Files included 3.0 Installing the JRE update 4.0 Removing the JRE update 5.0 Cumulative fix list (APARs) 6.0 Trademarks 1.0 Installation requirements The JRE update requires one of the following product levels: - IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.0 - 5.1.1.10 - IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.2.0 - 5.2.7.1 2.0 Files included The JRE update consists of the following files: AIX: jre632redist_nolic.tar.gz Linux: ibm-java-jre-6.0-16.26-linux-i386_nolic.tgz Windows: ibm-java-jre-60-win-i386_nolic.zip 3.0 Installing the JRE update Note: This JRE update replaces the JRE available for download as part of the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center device server component that is used with the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center standalone GUI (accessed through JWS). Complete these steps to install the JRE update : 3.1 Download the updated JRE package from Fix Central. 3.2 Optional: Make a note of the version of the JRE which your installation is currently using. This is used to verify that this JRE update has been successful. 3.3 Uninstall the current JRE. 3.3 Expand the compressed download file into a local directory on any host where the Java WebStart GUI is launched. 3.4 To verify that the JRE update is applied, navigate to the directory used in step 3.3 and proceed as follows: - On Linux and UNIX systems, change to directory /java/jre/bin and then enter the following command: ./java -version - On Windows, change to directory \java\jre\bin and then enter the following command: java -version You should see Java version 1.6.0 SR16 FP26. 3.5 Configure your browser to use this JRE to launch the Java WebStart GUI for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. 4.0 Removing the JRE update Delete the local directory structure you just created. 5.0 Cumulative fix list The following problems are corrected in the JRE update: - APAR IT15482: Tivoli Storage Productivity Center ships IBM JRE 6, which has security vulnerabilities that might be exposed when installed for use with the Java WebStart stand alone GUI. This JRE update contains the new JRE, which fixes the security vulnerabilities.
