APARs fixed

The following table lists APARs that are fixed in the interim fix:
APAR Abstract Description Available since
IV38475 ILMT 7.2.2/7.5 AGENT SELF-UPDATE ISSUES During the self-update of agents, the following problems occur: agent custom location is ignored, custom certificate and settings of the tlmagent.ini table are lost. Interim fix 10
IV37952 OLD AGENTS UPLOAD INCORRECT MEASURES TO ADM.MEASURE Agents version lower than 7.2.2 upload incorrect measures to the ADM.MEASURE table. Interim fix 10
IV37691 ILMT RETURNS A HIGHER COUNT FOR THE LPAR CORES (VCPUS) THAN THE PHYSICAL/ SERVER CORE (PCPUS) Due to invalid data that comes from the agents, Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed returns a higher count for the LPAR cores than for the physical cores. Interim fix 10
IV37389 PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR SITUATION WHEN SRCMSTR DAEMON IS NOT WORKING Installation of an agent fails on AIX®, if the System Resource Controller is not working. Interim fix 10
IV36123 INCORRECT ORDER OF STARTING AGENT THREADS-SIGNAL HANDLING ISSUES If agent threads are started in a wrong order, agents are not able to properly handle the SIGPIPE signal. It causes that the process ends and the core is dumped. Interim fix 10
IV32579 MISSING INFORMATION ABOUT THE IMPACT OF CPU_THRESHOLD ON SCANS DURATION Documentation does not clearly state that setting cpu_threshold parameter causes that the execution of a scan on the agent side takes more time. Interim fix 9
IV33537 SYSTEMS WITHOUT AGENTS LIST INCORRECT Agents are installed on devices that have NIC cards with at least two IP addresses. Some of the agents first list an address that is not the IP address that is listed in the Systems without Agents table. Such agents are not removed from the list of systems without agents. Interim fix 9
IV33963 WIN 2000 SUPPORT MISMATCH BETWEEN ENG AND JAP INFOCENTER Windows 2000 is incorrectly listed as a supported agent platform in the Japanese Information Center. Interim fix 9
IV35808 PROBLEM WITH DUPLICATED ENTRIES IN ADM.LINK CAUSING IB TO FAIL Duplicated entries in the ADM.LINK table cause that Inventory Builder fails. Interim fix 9
IV36365 SCHEDULED FULL HARDWARE SCAN NOT WORKING FOR VIRTUAL MACHINES IN TAD4D 7.2.2.28 (INTERIM FIX 8) In Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed version 7.2.2 interim fix 8, full hardware scans are not working on virtual machines even if scheduled. Interim fix 9
IV23626 UNABLE TO UPGRADE TO 7.5: PLEASE SPECIFY "-R /VAR/ITLM" OPTION UPGRADE THIS AGENT An unsupported upgrade scenario was detected for an agent that is newer than version 7.2.2.0 and was installed with the -R/var/itlm option defined. Manual upgrade of an agent that is installed on AIX with the -R option defined is not supported. The only supported upgrading scenario for such an agent is self-update. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV23626. Interim fix 8
IV15540 EMPTY VALUE FOR BIOSSERIALNUMBER CAUSES ISSUES WITH VM manager correctly defines virtualization topologies for guests that have the BIOSSerialNumber attribute empty. Interim fix 8
IV20562 WHAT STEPS ARE TAKEN TO VALIDATE THE UPLOADED DATA? The upload function might allow for uploading scripts with malicious content without any restrictions. If such a file is uploaded, it is possible for the malicious code to be executed. Interim fix 8
IV31063 INSTALLING TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED AGENTS VIA TCM WILL LEAVE "YES" PROCESS COMMAND RUNNING EVEN AFTER THE AGENT IS INSTALLED SUCCESSFULLY Installation of Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agents using Tivoli Configuration Manager leaves the yes process command running even after the agent is installed successfully and the process is ended manually after the installation. Interim fix 8
IV30409 VMWARE AGENTS IN PENDING STATUS If an invalid URL is defined or the VMware machine is incorrectly configured, the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed server hangs when attempting to connect to the machine, even though the timeout period was correctly configured. Such attempts of connection block the timer on which the VMware Connection task is running (Timer3). If the connection takes twice the amount of time that was defined as the timeout period, the connection thread is broken and the status of the VM manager is changed to Hard timeout - suspended. This status indicates that no further attempts of connecting to the particular VM manager are made until its status is manually changed to Pending. Interim fix 8
IV29984 REVOKE PUBLIC GRANTS One of the steps during the installation of the interim fix grants public access to two tables. It is not required to have that access granted for public. It should be removed. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV29984 Interim fix 7
IV24904 MULTI-FILES SIGNATURE WITH SIZE="0" In the Software Catalog canonical form, the signature definition for IBM Tivoli Security Compliance Manager 5.1.1.1 Client is based on two files. The size of these two files is set to 0 byte therefore Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed scanner should match by file names only, as it is in the case of a single-file signature. Unfortunately, in the multi-file signature case, the agent gets information about size=0 and tries to match by both the name and size of the particular file. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV24904 Interim fix 7
IV29154 IF05 INSTALLATION FAILS WHEN USING DB2 9.1 FP1 One of the steps of interim fix installation runs the following query on a database:
select grantee from SYSCAT.ROLEAUTH where granteetype='U' and
rolename='SYSROLE_AUTH_DBADM'
Because SYSCAT.ROLEAUTH table is not available in DB2® 9.1, the installation fails. For more details, go to the Known problems section of this document.
Interim fix 7
IV29124 MISSING INFORMATION IN DOCUMENTATION THAT AGENT'S VERSION CAN NEVER BE HIGHER THAN THE SERVER'S Documentation lacks information that the version of the agent cannot be higher than the version of the server even at the interim fix level. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV29124 Interim fix 7
IV28621 TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED 7.2.2 PACKAGE DEPENDENCY, MISSING RPM WITH CORRECT DEPENDENCIES The package ILMT-TAD4D-agent-7.2.2-1.s390 requires /lib/ld.so.1 and this requirement cannot be provided. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV28621 Interim fix 7
IV28037 DESCRIPTION FIELD IS SKIPPED DURING IMPORT The view custom.signature_v has a field called Description. For every row in the table, the field is empty but it should not be. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV28037 Interim fix 7
IV26845 IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL AN AGENT ON AIX USING SPB PACKAGE WHEN CUSTOM LOCATION IS BEING USED It is not possible to install an agent on AIX by using SPB package when the custom location is used. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV26845 Interim fix 7
IV27978 UPGRADE OF AN AGENT FROM VERSION 7.5.0.1 TO 7.5.0.2/7.5.0.3 FAILS Because of a defect in the agent installer, the following upgrading scenarios fail:
  • 7.2.2 FP2 > 7.5.0.1 > 7.5.0.2/3
  • 7.5.0.0 > 7.5.0.1 > 7.5.0.2/3
The installer returns the following information: Current installation scenario (Downgrade) is not supported. The current installation scenario (downgrade) is not supported. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV27978

Interim fix 6
IV26311 THE MESSAGE 'COULD NOT PARSE SERVICE CONTROL DATA' ON THE AGENT SIDE SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A MORE MEANINGFUL MESSAGE When an upload is rejected on the server, the server does not fill the http response according to the right standard. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV26311 Interim fix 6
IV24091 THOUSANDS OF AGENTS ARE IN THE CLOSE_WAIT STATE The problem occurs when the server is overloaded with scan uploads. It originally occurred in an environment with 26000 agents. When the server is overloaded, the number of connections to the agent port on the side of the server skyrockets:
  • the number of connections in the ESTABLISHED state is limited on WebSphere®
  • the number of connections in the TIME_WAIT state is not the concern
  • the number of connections in the CLOSE_WAIT state that appear on the side of the server (for example, netstat) must be limited. In the original case, 8000 of such connections were observed.
For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV24091
Interim fix 6
IV26374 LMTCLI.SG PROCESS ENDS The lmtcli.sh script fails to start and the process ends. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV26374 Interim fix 6
IV26884 AGTDEL COMMAND DELETES ALL AGENTS WHEN AN EMPTY FILE IS PASSED When an empty file is passed to the agtdel command, it is treated as if no file was passed and all agents with the referenced status are deleted. For more details, go to: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IV26884 Interim fix 6
IV20797 AGENT SELF-UPDATE PROCESS FAILS ON WINDOWS The upgrade of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is not verified during the self-upgrade of Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agents from version 7.2.1 to 7.2.2. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV23342 Interim fix 5
IV22742 INCORRECT OUTPUT ON THE UI WHEN A PRODUCT IS DISCOVERED ONLY ON SHARED DISCS WITHOUT USAGE BEING REPORTED When a product is detected only on shared file systems and the usage is not reported, the capacity and subcapacity values are empty. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV22742 Interim fix 5
IV22830 TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED DOES NOT CORRECTLY DETECT OR CHARE FOR SOFTWARE THAT IS INSTALLED ON NETWORK FILE SYSTEMS Software that is installed on Network File Systems (NFS) is incorrectly detected when non-file signatures are used. Additionally, the software is incorrectly counted because of the missing use signatures. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV22830 Interim fix 5
IV24800 PROBLEM WITH THE CLEANUNMOUNTEDSHAREDDISKSTASK CLASS The problem occurs because two forward slashes (//) are expected in the path and instances of a single forward slash in the path were encountered. For more details, go to:http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV24800 Interim fix 5
IV24985 BLANK DUPLICATES ARE DISAPLAYED ON THE 'INFRASTRUCTURE > AGENTS' PANEL OF TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED While browsing the Infrastructure > Agents panel and filtering the information by the host name of a single agent, numerous duplicate blank rows are returned. Attempts of deleting any of these blank rows result in all blank rows, including the valid entry, being deleted. The problem does not occur in the TLMA database on which a single entry is returned for each agent. Both these agents are virtual machines. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV24985 Interim fix 5
IV24950 AGGREGATION HANGS WITH THE TIME OUT ERROR Software aggregation hangs with a timeout error because of some locks on the database. For more details, go to:http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV24950 Interim fix 5
IV24741 AIX TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED AGENT IS SLOW TO RESPOND TO COMMAND-LINE INTERFACE COMMANDS Agents respond slowly to the command-line interface commands. After installing the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agent for AIX PPC v7.5 on an AIX server (both AIX 6.1 and AIX 7.1), the command-line interface commands take about 40 seconds to respond. Interim fix 5
IV20309 PROCESSOR IS NOT CORRECTLY MATCHED BY X86 MATCHER Some processors are not correctly matched by the x86 matcher. The problem probably appears because the processor name contains the space sign, hyphen, or a national language character. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV20309 Interim fix 4
IV17935 UPGRADE COMMON INVENTORY TECHNOLOGY SCANNER ON TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED AGENT TO THE LATEST AVAILABLE VERSION The installed version of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is not up-to-date. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV17935 Interim fix 4
IV15700 DATA IS TOO LONG TO FIT INTO THE FIELD OF A TLMA DATABASE TABLE Some software scans return product names that are longer then the current length of the PACKAGE_NAME column of the ADM.NATIVE_SW table (64 characters). The excessive length of product names generates exceptions during the upload and the agent cannot upload the results of the software scan. To solve the problem, you must increase the size of the column to 255 characters. Interim fix 4
IV24201 TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED HAS PROBLEMS WITH MATCHING THE LOCAL ZONE WITH THE GLOBAL ZONE The problem occurs when the serial number that is reported by eeprom/SMBIOS on a global zone differs from the hardware serial number that is reported by sysinfo(SI_HW_SERIAL). For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV24201 Interim fix 4
IV20850 INCORRECT OS_SUB_VERS VALUES AFTER THE UPDATE TO TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED 7.2.2.2 After upgrading to Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed 7.2.2.2, incorrect values are stored in the OS_SUB_VERS column of the tlmhw.computer table. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV20850 Interim fix 4
IV19879 LINUX AGENT FAILS WHEN ON READ-ONLY FILE SYSTEM In this scenario, /efs/dist/ibm/tad/722fp1/exec/ is a read-only file system and the agent requires at least one file in the agent_base_dir location to be writable. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV19879 Interim fix 3
IV15800 LICENSETYPE VALUE DOES NOT GET POPULATED DURING CATALOG IMPORT. A new way of importing the software catalog was introduced in the 7.2.2 release. The License Type parameter is no longer considered in the new design. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV15800 Interim fix 3
IV17932 TIVOLI ASSET DISCOVERY FOR DISTRIBUTED 7.2.2 AGGREGATION FAILS Software aggregation fails in the 7.2.2 release. The problem is caused because the adm.vm records are missing from the agents that are in the incomplete status. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV17932 Interim fix 3
IV20907 ONE MONTH SCHEDULE SETTING DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY The monthly scheduler for the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agent does not work correctly. For more details, go to: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IV20907 Interim fix 3
