DESCRIPTION 
=====================================================================
IBM Security Solutions has become aware of an issue where the G appliance can exhibit poor performance when posting events to SiteProtector, an issue where the appliance can enter a state where it will cease sending events to SiteProtector for a long period of time, and an issue where the GX OS is incorrectly configured to allocate certain ranges of memory at FW3.2. This last problem can manifest itself as excessive paging as the sensor will not be able to properly use all the RAM on the system.

This patch has been released to correct these problems.

IBM Proventia Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) - FW3.2 and FW3.3


APPLYING THE UPDATE
=====================================================================
To apply the update:

Step  1 - Unzip the package.
Step  2 - Copy the .tgz to the G-Appliance.
	  (scp IBM-Proventia-G-FW3_2-FW3_3-Memory_and_MSL-Config_Patch.tgz root@<ipaddress>:.)
Step  3 - Change to the directory where you uploaded the package.
Step  4 - Run the following command: (tar -zxvf IBM-Proventia-G-FW3_2-FW3_3-Memory_and_MSL-Config_Patch.tgz)
Step  5 - Execute the install script:
          (./install.sh)

To uninstall the update:

Step  1 - Unzip the package.
Step  2 - Copy the .tgz to the G-Appliance.
          (scp IBM-Proventia-G-FW3_2-FW3_3-Memory_and_MSL-Config_Patch.tgz root@<ipaddress>:.)
Step  3 - Change to the directory where you uploaded the package.
Step  4 - Run the following command: (tar -zxvf IBM-Proventia-G-FW3_2-FW3_3-Memory_and_MSL-Config_Patch.tgz)
Step  5 - Execute the install script as follows:
          (./install.sh -r)

***NOTE*** - It is not possible to revert the memory subsystem changes.
