IBM periodically releases firmware updates that are intended to, 
among other things, increase overall reliability, improve tape handling, 
further reduce any possibility of data loss/data error, and provide continued 
enhancements to diagnostic capabilities. 

The readme files contain information that may not be included in the IBM
Tape Library documentation. The readme files take precedence over the documentation.  
Therefore, any information in this file that conflicts with information 
in the documentation will supercede the SOSG.

In order to provide maximum performance and reliability, it is recommended that the latest version of 
microcode is installed on your IBM LTO tape devices.These firmware updates are intended to, among 
other things, increase overall reliability, improve tape handling, further reduce any possibility 
of data errors, and provide continued enhancements to diagnostic capabilities.

CODE LEVEL NAMING CONVENTIONS FOR HALF HIGH DRIVES:
GENE_FVER_CON_FF_ro

GENE:  is the drive generation (LTO6 for Ultrium6)
FVER:  is the firmware version
CON :  is the connection type (SAS -(SAS), Fibre - (FC))
FF  :  is the form factor (Full High - fh, Half High - hh)

Example:LTO6_D8E5.SAS.hh.ro
Generation: LTO6
Firmware Version:D8E5
Connection: SAS
Form Factor: Half High (fh)


SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS:
This tape drive works with the following operating systems: AIX, HPUX, Linux pSeries, Linux zSeries
Sun Solaris, Windows. For details on supported tape attachment please refer to the

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Lenovo Tape Diagnostic Tool (ITDT) provides the customer with functionality 
to perform maintenance tasks and run diagnostic tasks to determine tape 
device issues.  This is available to download with the device driver.

LTO6 FEATURES AND NOTICES:

- Features Lenovo Ultrium 6 Tape Drive in Half-High Form Factor.
- 6bps SAS interface.
- Physical storage capacity up to 6.25 TB (with 2.5:1 compression) of capacity in a single cartridge.
- LTO 6 tape drive can read and write to LTO 5 cartridges and read LTO 4 cartridges with improved 
  data rates.
- The hardware encryption and decryption core and control core reside in the Lenovo Ultrium 6 tape 
  drive.
- The Lenovo Ultrium 6 tape drive is designed to support up to 200 MBps native data-transfer rates 
  and up to 2.5 TB native physical capacity when using the Lenovo System Storage Ultrium 2.5 TB Data 
  Cartridge (6.25 TB with 2.5:1 compression).
