IBM Linear Tape File System Format Verifier README

IBM maintains the latest levels of the IBM Linear Tape File System Format 
Verifier (LFV) and documentation on the Internet.

For the current release of LFV, there are the following known issues:

1. Duration of the extended verification

Although the software is designed to operate as fast as possible so that the
extended verification should not take longer than three hours on a filled
cartridge, the extended verification can take longer.
Factors with negative impact on the verification performance are
- a block size for the LTFS file system that is less than 512kB
- a huge amount of small files on the cartridge
- debug-level logging is enabled for LFV

2. Large LTFS Index Analysis (>3.000.000 files/directory entries) requires a 
Minimum of 6 GB of free disk space.
