Installing gpfs.gss.firmware
Complete the following steps to install the fix package:
- Extract the update package (< filename >.tar file) with the commands:
gunzip < filename >.tgz
tar -xvf < filename >.tar
- Verify the update's RPM in the directory. Normally, the RPM images in this directory would be similar to the following:
gpfs.gss.firmware-< update_version >.< arch >.rpm
where
< update_version > specifies the version number of the update you downloaded, for example, 5.0.0.8
and
< arch > specifies the system architecture, for example x86_64 for 64-bit System x
For specific filenames, check the Readme for the GPFS update by clicking the "View" link for the update on the Download tab.
- Remove the existing gpfs.gss.firmware rpm. On each GSS/ESS server node issue the following command:
rpm -e gpfs.gss.firmware 2>/dev/null
- Install the gpfs.gss.firmware rpm. On each GSS server node issue the following command:
rpm -i gpfs.gss.firmware-< update_version >.< arch >.rpm
- Use the mmchfirmware command documented in the GPFS Adminstration and Programming Reference to install the latest firmware.
