Updating Xseries firmware. 1) Only update the Xseries firmware to this level when directed to by support, or when directed to as part of an upgrade procedure. 2) This process involves rebooting the Xseries servers, it can only be done while the system is not available for IO. 3) All the 3550 and 3650 Xseries servers need to run this process, all of the drawers can be updated at the same time, if enough disks are available. 4) Place IA_FMW disk in CD/DVD reader of the server to be updated. 5) At command issue the command “sudo /sbin/reboot.” 6) The server will reboot, and automatically load the firmware updates from the disk. a. Allow between 10 – 30 minutes for updates to complete. 7) At the review screen press q then Enter to quit, select yes for “are you sure” prompt. 8) At next screen press q then Enter again to quit out. 9) At this point the system reboots and ejects the disk, if the disk fails to eject, simply eject the disk at power up. 10) Remove the disk and close the disk tray. 11) Firmware updates are now complete.
