Installing product updates from a command line
You
can install product updates, such as interim fixes and Fix Packs,
in console mode or from the command line. Additionally, you can install
product updates in silent mode so that you do not have to monitor
or input information during the installation. For more information
about installing product updates, see Working from the command
line, Working in console mode, and Working in silent
mode in the IBM Installation
Manager help. In all of these modes, the same basic steps must be
performed in a workstation installation; add the repository with the
update, and perform the update itself. To perform a silent install
to update an existing V9.5 system, follow these steps:
- From the root user id, use the cp command
to copy the rdt95_response_file.xml file from the SilentInstall folder
on the Rational Development
and Test Environment for z Systems Installation disc to a location
where you can edit the file.
- Open the editable response file in an editor and modify the following
line <repository location=’..’/> as
follows:
<repository location=’/absolute path to the unzipped fix directory/disk1’/>
- Save the updated response file.
- Use the cd .. command to get back to the Rational Development and Test
Environment for z Systems Installation disc.
- View the license text for Rational Development
and Test Environment for z Systems in file xx.html,
where xx is your language of preference. You can find this file in
the License directory of the Installation disc.
- Enter the following command:
/opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/tools/imcl input /absolute
path to modified response file/rdt95_response_file.xml
-log log_file_name -acceptLicense
