System requirements

To run IBM Rational SDL and TTCN Suite 6.3 you need:

  • One of the following operating systems installed on your computer:
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 or higher (32 bit)
    • Microsoft Windows Vista Business or Enterprise SP2 (32/64 bit)
    • Microsoft Windows 7 (32/64 bit)
    • Microsoft Windows 8 (32/64 bit)
    • Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 (32/64 bit)
    • Sun Solaris 10
  • The minimum system requirements for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 are:
    • Minimum main memory: 256 MB
    • Virtual Memory (Swap) size: 512 MB
  • The minimum system requirements for Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 are:
    • Minimum main memory: 256 MB
    • Virtual Memory (Swap) size: 512 MB
    • The following packages must be installed on Red Hat Enterprise 5:
      libXp 1.0.0-8.1.el5
      libstdc++ 4.1.2-42.el5
      libstdc++-devel 4.1.2-42.el5
      libgomp 4.1.2-42.el5
      cpp 4.1.2-42.el5
      glibc-common 2.5-24
      glibc 2.5-24
      glibc-headers 2.5-24
      glibc-devel 2.5-24
      libgcc 4.1.2-42.el5
      gcc 4.1.2-42.el5
      gcc-c++ 4.1.2-42.el5
    • The following packages must be installed on Red Hat Enterprise 5 64-bit:
      libXpm-3.5.5-3.i386.rpm
      libXmu-1.0.2-5.i386.rpm
    • On Red Hat 5, SELinux is enabled by default. In order for Rational TTCN Suite to perform correctly, SELinux must be disabled for the files “libccg.so” if Rational TTCN Suite isinstalled locally. If the installation is done on a file share this is not necessary.

                        This is done by executing the commands as root:

chcon -t texrel_shlib_t <installation dir>/bin/linuxbin/libccg.so

  • The minimum system requirements for Sun Solaris 10 are:
    • Minimum main memory: 256 MB
    • Virtual Memory (Swap) size: 512 MB
  • Although the exact memory needs for a high-performance installation (meaning execution with little swap page faults) on a given PC are impossible to tell, the following memory requirements could be expected:
  • - 128 MB for Windows Vista/XP systems
  • - 40 MB for the SDL Suite and TTCN Suite graphical applications + 1 kB / line of SDL/PR input to the Analyzer.
  • - Add memory requirements for other applications that you want to run in the session (Compilers, Microsoft Word, Explorer, etc.)
