Description

You can migrate your existing version 1.0.1 artifacts such as data warehouse, XML Data Configuration, ETL catalogs, and Framework Manager projects to version 1.0.1.1 to take advantage of features and fixes included in version 1.0.1.1.

Rational Insight 1.0.1.1 seamlessly integrates with Rational solution for CLM. This integration provides two benefits:

You can also integrate Rational Insight with multiple installations of Rational solution for CLM, collect data from all the installations and run aggregate or roll-up reports with Rational Insight.

Installing Rational Insight 1.0.1.1

If you are a new user, you can directly install IBM® Rational® Insight 1.0.1.1. If you have version 1.0.1 or 1.0.1 ifix1, you can upgrade to version 1.0.1.1 to use the new features and fixes.

If you have a version prior than 1.0.1, you must first upgrade that version to version 1.0.1, migrate the artifacts to 1.0.1, and then upgrade to version 1.0.1.1.

You must back up your data before installing or upgrading a new version of Rational Insight.

Note: After the upgrade, you cannot roll back your installation to the previously installed version.

Migrating Rational Insight 1.0.1 artifacts to 1.0.1.1

To upgrade to Rational® Insight 1.0.1.1, you must first migrate your artifacts including data warehouse, XML data configuration files, ETL catalogs, and Framework Manager files. Migration ensures that you continue to use the data that you customized in the previous version with the new features and fixes available in the current version.

You must migrate artifacts in the order of data warehouse, XML data configuration, ETL, and Framework Manager.

Integrating Rational Insight with Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management

You can integrate Rational Insight with Rational solution for CLM to convert to a Data Manager based ETL process that is highly customizable. Also, the integration lets you expand your cross-product reporting capability to include non-Jazz based products including IBM Rational ClearQuest®, IBM Rational ClearCase®, IBM Rational RequisitePro®, IBM Rational DOORS® IBM Rational Test Manager, IBM Rational Focal Point™ and Microsoft Project, and older Jazz based products like Rational Team Concert 2.x, 3.0, and Rational Quality Manager 2.x.

You can integrate with either one Rational solution for CLM offering or with multiple offerings installed.

Upgrading Rational Reporting for Developer Intelligence to Rational Insight

If you are using Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence as part of Rational® solution for CLM and want to customize the ETL process and reporting model or want to integrate with non-Rational solution for CLM products including IBM® Rational ClearQuest®, IBM Rational ClearCase®, and products from independent software vendors, you can upgrade to IBM Rational Insight 1.0.1.1.
