This interim fix is an accumulation of several fixes for IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 with Fix 601711:

1.       Resolve an unresponsive SSM (IBM Spectrum Symphony session manager) issue due to deadlocking in IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 (Original Fix ID: sym-7.3.2-build601773).

2.       Prevent SSM from core dumping with a segmentation issue in IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 (Original Fix ID: sym-7.3.2-build601786).

3.       Allow VEMKD logs rotate issues when the EGO_STRIP_DOMAIN parameter is enabled in an IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 cluster (Original Fix ID: sym-7.3.2-build601824).

4.       Address an issue where the IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 session manager (SSM) prints SSM monitoring feature event messages in the SSM log, despite the feature not being enabled (Original Fix ID: sym-7.3.2-build601835).

5.       Resolve a VEMKD core dumping issue in an IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 cluster (Original Fix ID: sym-7.3.2-build601838).

4.    Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix on hosts in your cluster.

Prerequisites

Fix 601711 must be installed before applying this fix package.

System requirements

Windows x86_64     

Installation

a.     Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, disable all applications, and shut down the cluster:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x password

> soamcontrol app disable all -f

> egosh service stop all

> egosh ego shutdown -f all

b.     Log on to each management host in the cluster, copy the sym-7.3.2.0-soamcore-7.3.2.0_build602025.msp and sym-7.3.2.0-egocore-4.0.0.0_build602025.msp packages, and complete one of the following steps:

o   To perform an interactive installation, double-click the .msp package.

o   To perform a silent installation from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /update C:\sym-7.3.2.0-soamcore-7.3.2.0_build602025.msp /l*v updateSym.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

C:\> msiexec /update C:\ sym-7.3.2.0-egocore-4.0.0.0_build602025.msp /l*v updateSym.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

 

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\>msiexec /update <sym_package_name_path> /l*v <sym_install_log> /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

where:

o   <sym_package_name_path> is the fully qualified path to the .msp package.

o   <sym_install_log> is the log file for the fix.

c.     Run the pversions command to verify the installation.

d.     From the primary host, start up the cluster, and enable your applications:

egosh ego start -f all

> soamcontrol app enable application_name

5.    Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from hosts in your cluster.

a.     Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, disable all applications, and shut down the cluster:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x password

> soamcontrol app disable all -f

> egosh service stop all

> egosh ego shutdown -f all

b.     Roll back to the previous version of IBM Spectrum Symphony either from the Windows Control Panel or from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command line:

o   To roll back from the Windows Control Panel, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates, click Update for Symphony 7.3.2.0 (build"602025") and click Uninstall.

o   To roll back from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /uninstall {B26B5A48-897E-4783-AD79-F4B5B7B4E019} /package {E56C0FC4-F6C0-4FDC-8037-E576A6650CAA} /norestart /quiet /l*v sym_rollback.log

C:\> msiexec /uninstall {68C1FB83-CCBE-40CD-9CB2-92CD37974039} /package {E0D84198-BD82-44E9-BE9E-56BC19B4AE75} /norestart /quiet /l*v sym_rollback.log

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\>msiexec /uninstall <interim_fix_code> /package <product_code> /norestart /quiet /l*v <rollback_log>

where:

o   <interim_fix_code> is the identifier of the .msp package for the interim fix; in this case, {B26B5A48-897E-4783-AD79-F4B5B7B4E019} and {68C1FB83-CCBE-40CD-9CB2-92CD37974039}.

o   <product_code> is the identifier of the .msi file in the product installation package; in this case, {E56C0FC4-F6C0-4FDC-8037-E576A6650CAA} and {E0D84198-BD82-44E9-BE9E-56BC19B4AE75}.

o   <rollback_log> is the name of the log file to capture details of the interim fix rollback; in this case, sym_rollback.log.

c.     From the primary host, start up the cluster, and enable your applications:

egosh ego start -f all

> soamcontrol app enable application_name
