When adding a new session type to an application with running standby services, registering the newly added service fails and pending tasks remain in inactive state. IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.0.2 does not release the corresponding slot. This fix resolves this issue.

4.      Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix to your cluster.

System requirements

Linux x86_64

Installing on IBM Spectrum Symphony management and compute hosts

a.      Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator and disable all applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.      Log on to each management and compute host in the cluster (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), back up the following files for recovery purpose:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.2/linux-x86_64/etc/sim

c.      On each management host, copy the sym-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build601313.tar.gz package and extract its contents to the $EGO_TOP installation directory:

> tar zxfo sym-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build601313.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

d.      Check the modified time of the following files to verify that this enhancement was correctly installed:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.2/linux-x86_64/etc/sim

e.    From the primary host, enable your applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app enable application_name

5.      Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from your cluster.

Uninstalling from IBM Spectrum Symphony management and compute hosts 

a.       Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, and disable all applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.      On each management and compute host in the cluster (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), restore the following files from your backup location:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.2/linux-x86_64/etc/sim

c.       Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, and enable your applications:

egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app enable application_name
