IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 600975 Readme File

Abstract

P104541. This fix prevents the lim daemon from having a high CPU utilization on a host with 8 GPUs.

Description

Readme documentation for IBM® Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 600975 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.

This fix addresses the following issues:

The lim daemon has a high CPU utilization when collecting GPU information on a host with 8 GPUs. To reduce CPU utilization, this patch introduces a new parameter LSF_GPU_HARDWARE_CHANGE in the lsf.conf file.

Syntax:
LSF_GPU_HARDWARE_CHANGE=Y | y | N | n

If set to N, LSF assumes that the GPU hardware on the host remains unchanged. The lim daemon detects the number of GPUs and the static GPU information only at startup, then collects GPU dynamic information in subsequent loops. When the host GPU hardware changes, you must restart lim on the host to detect the new GPU hardware.

If set to Y, LSF assumes that GPU hardware on the host might change. The lim daemon detects the number of GPUs, the GPU static information, and the GPU dynamic information in each loop.

Default:
N.
