This enhancement enables the egosh command to control the debug logging level of the EGO service controller (EGOSC) on a Linux primary host.

 

1.    Scope

Before you install this enhancement to your cluster, note the following requirements:

Management host operating system

Linux RHEL 6.x or 7.x

Product version

IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.0.2

 

2.    Installation

Follow these instructions to download and install this enhancement on hosts in your cluster.

Installing on primary and primary candidate hosts

a.       Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, stop all services, and shut down your cluster:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> egosh service stop all

> egosh ego shutdown

b.       On each primary candidate host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system) in the cluster, backup the following files:

$EGO_TOP/3.6/linux-x86_64/etc/egosc

$EGO_TOP/3.6/linux-x86_64/bin/egosh

c.       On each primary candidate host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), copy the sym-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build600511.tar.gz package and decompress it to the $EGO_TOP installation directory:

> tar zxof sym-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build600511.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

3.    Configuration and usage

a.     From the primary host, start the cluster:

> egosh ego start

b.     Set the EGOSC log level:

·        To set the log level for EGOSC to LOG_DEBUG, run:

> egosh debug egoscon

·        To restore the log level for EGOSC to its original configuration (configured by the ESC_LOG_MASK setting in the $EGO_ESRVDIR/esc/conf/egosc_conf.xml file), run:

> egosh debug egoscoff

To get help information for the egoscon and egoscoff subcommands, run:

> egosh help debug egoscon

> egosh help debug egoscoff

4.    Uninstallation

If required, uninstall this enhancement from hosts in your cluster:

a.       Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator, stop all services, and shut down your cluster:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> egosh service stop all

> egosh ego shutdown

b.       On each primary candidate host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system) in the cluster, restore the following files from your backup:

$EGO_TOP/3.6/linux-x86_64/etc/egosc

$EGO_TOP/3.6/linux-x86_64/bin/egosh

c.     From the primary host, start the cluster:

> egosh ego start
