An error occurs when running the Cross Language Python 2.7.11 client on Windows in an IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 Developer Edition or client cluster. This Interim fix provides a soamapi.pyc file to fix the compatibility issue.

4.      Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix on hosts in your cluster.

System requirements

Windows, 64-bit

Installing on IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition Windows hosts

a.       Log on to each IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition host as the cluster administrator, disable all applications and stop the agent:

> soamcontrol app disable all

> echo .| soamshutdown

b.       On each IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition host, copy the symde-7.2.1.1_build600431.msp package and complete one of the following steps:   

l  To perform an interactive installation, double-click the .msp package and follow the prompts.

l  To perform a silent installation from the IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /update C:\symde-7.2.1.1_build600431.msp /l*v Symde_update.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\> msiexec /update sym_package_name_path /l*v symde_install_log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

where:

l  sym_package_name_path is the fully qualified path to the .msp package.

l  symde_install_log is the log file for the upgrade.

c.       From the IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition host, start the agent, and enable your applications:

> echo .| soamstartup

> soamcontrol app enable app_name

Installing on IBM Spectrum Symphony client Windows hosts

a.       Log on to the IBM Spectrum Symphony client host and stop the running client.

b.       On each IBM Spectrum Symphony client host, copy the symclnt-7.2.1.1_build600431.msp package and complete one of the following steps:   

l  To perform an interactive installation, double-click the .msp package and follow the prompts.

l  To perform a silent installation from the IBM Spectrum Symphony client command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /update C:\symclnt-7.2.1.1_build600431.msp /l*v Symclnt_update.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\> msiexec /update sym_package_name_path /l*v symclnt_install_log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

where:

l  sym_package_name_path is the fully qualified path to the .msp package.

l  symclnt_install_log is the log file for the upgrade.

5.      Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from hosts in your cluster.

Uninstalling from IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition Windows hosts

a.       Log on to each IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition host as the cluster administrator, disable all applications, and stop the agent:

> soamcontrol app disable all

> echo .| soamshutdown

b.       Roll back to the previous version of IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition either from the Windows Control Panel or from the IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition command line:

l  To roll back from the Windows Control Panel, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates, click Update for Symphony 7.2.1.0 (build"600431"), and click Uninstall.

l  To roll back from the IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /uninstall {EEB392E3-0837-4C90-894A-A3919539298E} /package {2D80A4C3-B9E9-4241-AB03-CF83BCFDC8BC} /norestart /quiet /l*v symde_rollback.log

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\> msiexec /uninstall interim_fix_code /package product_code /norestart /quiet /l*v symde_rollback_log

where:

l  interim_fix_code is the identifier of the .msp package for the interim fix; in this case, {EEB392E3-0837-4C90-894A-A3919539298E}.

l  product_code is the identifier of the .msi file in the product installation package; in this case, {2D80A4C3-B9E9-4241-AB03-CF83BCFDC8BC}.

l  symde_rollback_log is the name of the log file to capture details of the interim fix rollback; in this case, symde_rollback.log.

c.       From the IBM Spectrum Symphony Developer Edition host, start the agent and enable your applications:

> echo .| soamstartup

> soamcontrol app enable App_name

Uninstalling from IBM Spectrum Symphony client Windows hosts

a.       Log on to each IBM Spectrum Symphony client host and stop the running client:

b.       Roll back to the previous version of IBM Spectrum Symphony client either from the Windows Control Panel or from the IBM Spectrum Symphony client command line:

l  To roll back from the Windows Control Panel, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates, click Update for Symphony 7.2.1.0 (build"600431"), and click Uninstall.

l  To roll back from the IBM Spectrum Symphony client command line, enter the following command:

C:\> msiexec /uninstall {5D87A9E6-27CC-40BA-8CA9-2F56A40B830B} /package {A5B17CE9-32A9-47F6-80E0-C64BAE0D4F89} /norestart /quiet /l*v symclnt_rollback.log

The command syntax is as follows:

C:\> msiexec /uninstall interim_fix_code /package product_code /norestart /quiet /l*v symclnt_rollback_log

where:

l  interim_fix_code is the identifier of the .msp package for the interim fix; in this case, {5D87A9E6-27CC-40BA-8CA9-2F56A40B830B}.

l  product_code is the identifier of the .msi file in the product installation package; in this case, {A5B17CE9-32A9-47F6-80E0-C64BAE0D4F89}.

l  symclnt_rollback_log is the name of the log file to capture details of the interim fix rollback; in this case, symclnt_rollback.log.
