1.   Scope

Before you install this enhancement to your cluster, note the following requirements:

Operating system

Linux x86_64 (for IBM Spectrum Conductor)
Windows 64-bit (for IBM Spectrum Symphony)

Product versions

IBM Spectrum Conductor 2.5.0
IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.1

2.   Cluster setup

Follow these instructions to ensure your IBM Spectrum Conductor and IBM Spectrum Symphony cluster is set up correctly for this enhancement:

a.      Install IBM Spectrum Conductor 2.5.0 on a Linux host, which serves as the primary host. For more information, see Installing IBM Spectrum Conductor on a management host.

b.      Install IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.1 on a Windows host which serves as a compute host. For more information, see Installing IBM Spectrum Symphony on a Windows compute host.

c.      Verify that the Windows compute host joined the IBM Spectrum Conductor Linux cluster. For more information, see step 2 in Adding a host to a cluster.

d.      On the Windows compute host, create a user with the same name as the CLUSTERADMIN of the Linux primary host, with or without the domain name.

e.      On the Linux primary host, change the ClusterAdmins section in the ego.cluster configuration:

1)     Go to the $EGO_CONFDIR directory, and open the ego.cluster.cluster_name file.

Locate the ClusterAdmins section and add the user created in step d, or the Windows execution user, to the Administrators parameter. For example: Begin ClusterAdmins

Administrators = egoadmin ENG\egoadmin .\Administrator

End ClusterAdmins

For more information, see ego.cluster reference - ClusterAdmins section.

f.       On the Windows compute host, configure the password for the new Windows execution account added in step e.2). For example:

> egosh ego execpasswd -u user_name -x password

For more information, see Configuring a Windows password.

3.   Limitations

o   Only application instance workload is supported on IBM Spectrum Symphony Windows compute hosts. Spark workload is not supported on Windows compute hosts.

o   The environment variable IBM_PLATFORM_DEPLOY_HOOK_EXEC_USER is not supported as a service package environment variable on IBM Spectrum Symphony Windows compute hosts.
