This interim fix enables you to upgrade the IBM Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 to fix the following security vulnerabilities in the IBM Java SDK: CVE-2020-2590, CVE-2020-2601, CVE-2020-14583, CVE-2020-14593, CVE-2020-14621, CVE-2020-14556, CVE-2020-14581, CVE-2020-14579, CVE-2020-14578, CVE-2020-14577, and CVE-2019-17639.

4. Installation and configuration
Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix in your cluster.
System requirements

Installation
a. Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator and stop all the services:
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> egosh service stop all
b. On each primary candidate host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), copy the sym-7.2.1.0-egojre-8.0.6.16_build600088.msi package, and complete one of the following steps:
· To perform an interactive installation, double-click the .msi package and follow the prompts.
· To perform a silent installation, enter the following command from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt:
C:\>msiexec /package C:\sym-7.2.1.0-egojre-8.0.6.16_build600088.msi /l*v installSym.log /qn MASTERHOST=host_name INSTALLDIR=installation_directory
The command syntax is as follows:
C:\>msiexec /package sym_package_name_path /l*v sym_install_log /qn MASTERHOST=host_name INSTALLDIR=installation_directory
where:
· sym_package_name_path is the fully qualified file name to the .msi package, in this case, C:\sym-7.2.1.0-egojre-8.0.6.16_build600088.msi.
· sym_install_log is the log file for the upgrade, in this case, installSym.log.
c. Uninstall the old version JRE either from the Windows Control Panel or from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt:
· To uninstall from the Windows Control Panel, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, click IBM Spectrum Computing family: IBM JRE 8.0.5.16, and click Uninstall.
· To uninstall from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt, enter the following command:
C:\>msiexec /uninstall {6DD519C3-42DE-4D1B-A3AB-B766FBC3F6FA} /norestart /quiet /l*v uninstallSym.log
The command syntax is as follows:
C:\>msiexec /uninstall product_code /norestart /quiet /l*v sym_uninstall_log
where:
· product_code is the identifier of the .msi file in the product installation package; in this case, {6DD519C3-42DE-4D1B-A3AB-B766FBC3F6FA}.
· sym_uninstall_log is the log file for the uninstall, in this case, uninstallSym.log.
d. Delete all subdirectories and files in the following directories:
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\gui\work\*
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\gui\workarea\*
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\kernel\rest\workarea\*
e. Launch your web browser and clear the browser cache.
f. From the primary host, start all the services:
> egosh service start all
5. Uninstallation
If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from your cluster.
a. Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator and stop all the services:
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> egosh service stop all
b. Uninstall the JRE either from the Windows Control Panel or from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt:
· To uninstall from the Windows Control Panel, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, click IBM Spectrum Computing family: IBM JRE 8.0.6.16, and click Uninstall.
· To uninstall from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt, enter the following command:
C:\>msiexec /uninstall {33141E02-5BB1-4B1A-9464-5FA7761EE3A5} /norestart /quiet /l*v uninstallSym.log
The command syntax is as follows:
C:\>msiexec /uninstall product_code /norestart /quiet /l*v sym_uninstall_log
where:
· product_code is the identifier of the .msi file in the product installation package; in this case, {33141E02-5BB1-4B1A-9464-5FA7761EE3A5}.
· sym_uninstall_log is the log file for the uninstall, in this case, uninstallSym.log.
c. Extract the old JRE msi package from the sym-7.2.1.0.exe package by running:
> sym-7.2.1.0.exe --extract
directory_to_extract_to
d. On each primary candidate host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), copy the old JRE msi package, and complete one of the following steps:
· To perform an interactive installation, double-click the .msi package and follow the prompts.
· To perform a silent installation, enter the following command from the IBM Spectrum Symphony command prompt:
C:\>msiexec /package C:\egojre-8.0.5.16.msi /l*v installSym.log /qn MASTERHOST=host_name INSTALLDIR=installation_directory
The command syntax is as follows:
C:\>msiexec /package sym_package_name_path /l*v sym_install_log /qn MASTERHOST=host_name INSTALLDIR=installation_directory
where:
· sym_package_name_path is the fully qualified file name to the .msi package, in this case, C:\egojre-8.0.5.16.msi.
· sym_install_log is the log file for the upgrade, in this case, installSym.log.
e. Delete all subdirectories and files in the following directories:
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\gui\work\*
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\gui\workarea\*
> %SOAM_HOME%\..\..\kernel\rest\workarea\*
f. Launch your web browser and clear the browser cache.
g. Start all the services:
> egosh service start all
