The host factory of IBM Spectrum Symphony is unable to provision extra cloud hosts when one or more EC2 instances are in Pending state after a provision request. This interim fix resolves the issue by terminating instances that are in Pending state for over a time period of 3 minutes.

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix on hosts in your cluster.

System requirements

Linux x86_64

Prerequisites

·        Fix Pack 7.2.1.1 (fix ID sym-7.2.1-build507069) must be installed in your IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 cluster

·       Enhancement for provisioning AWS spot instances (fix ID sym-7.2.1-build516901-ms) must be installed in your 7.2.1.1 cluster.

Package for Linux management hosts.

 Installation

a.     Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator:

$ egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

 

b.     Stop the HostFactory service:

$ egosh service stop HostFactory

 

c.     On each management host:

                         i.         Create a directory.  For example, /symfixes directory.

                        ii.          Download the egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build563984.tar.gz package into the newly created directory.

 

                       iii.         Run the egoinstallfixes command to install the egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build563984.tar.gz file:

$ egoinstallfixes /symfixes/egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build563984.tar.gz --silent

Important: Running the egoinstallfixes command automatically backs up the current binary files to a fix backup directory.  For recovery purposes of the original file, do not delete this backup directory. For more information on using this command, see the egoinstallfixes command reference.

 

d.     Run the pversions command to verify the installation:

$ pversions -b 563984

 

f.       Start the HostFactory service:

      $ egosh service start HostFactory

5.   Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from hosts in your cluster.

a.     Log on to the primary host as cluster administrator:

$ egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

b.     Stop the HostFactory service:

$ egosh service stop HostFactory

c.      Log on to each Linux management host in the cluster and roll back this interim fix:

$ egoinstallfixes -r 563984

d.     Start the HostFactory service:

   $ egosh service start HostFactory
