This enhancement provides a new environment variable, called PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX, that allows you to configure the number of connection requests to be held in the backlog, for one SD (session director) service call. The limit of PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX is 36864 connections. 

1.    Scope

Before you install this enhancement to your cluster, note the following requirements:

Management host operating system

Linux RHEL 6.x or 7.x

Product version

IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1

 

2.    Installation

Follow these instructions to download and install this enhancement on hosts in your cluster.

Prerequisites

IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 Advanced Edition must be installed on Linux hosts in your cluster.

Installing on Linux management hosts

a.       Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator and stop all applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all -f

> egosh service stop SD

b.       On each management host, create a directory (for example, /symfixes) and download the soamcore-7.2.1.0_x86_64_build563042.tar.gz file to the directory:     

c.       Run the egoinstallfixes command to install the soamcore-7.2.1.0_x86_64_build563042.tar.gz file:

> egoinstallfixes /symfixes/soamcore-7.2.1.0_x86_64_build563042.tar.gz

3.    Configuration and usage

This enhancement provides a new environment variable called PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX, which allows you to configure the number of connections that can remain in the backlog for the SD service.

Required or optional: Optional

Valid values: 1 to 36864

Default value: 1000

a.      On each management host, edit the $EGO_ESRVDIR/esc/conf/services/sd.xml file to add the PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX environment variable:

<ego:EnvironmentVariable name="PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX">value</ego:EnvironmentVariable>

The default value is 1000 connections. Valid values are 1 to
36864 connections.

b.      Modify the SD service to so that the sd.xml configuration takes effect:

> egosh service modify SD -f $EGO_ESRVDIR/esc/conf/services/sd.xml

c.      From the primary host, start the SD service and enable your applications:

> egosh service start SD

> soamcontrol app enable appName

4.    Uninstallation

If required, uninstall this enhancement from management hosts in your cluster:

a.      Log on to the primary host as the cluster administrator and disable all applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all -f

> egosh service stop SD

b.      On each management host, roll back this enhancement:

> egoinstallfixes -r 563042

c.       Edit the $EGO_ESRVDIR/esc/conf/services/sd.xml file and remove the PLATCOMMDRV_BACKLOG_SIZE_ON_LINUX environment variable.

d.      Modify the SD service to so that the sd.xml configuration takes effect:

> egosh service modify SD -f $EGO_ESRVDIR/esc/conf/services/sd.xml

e.      From the primary host, start the SD service and enable your applications:

> egosh service start SD

> soamcontrol app enable appName
