Edit Discovery Credentials

Use this page to modify an existing discovery credential.

General

Displays the name and type of the discovery credential that you have selected to edit.

Modify Access Information

Edit the access information for the discovery credential that you have selected. The access information that is displayed is specific to the selected credential type.

Important: The access information that you specify must match the access information for the discovery target resource. If you change access information, such as a password, on the target resource, be sure to also change the associated Technical Support Appliance access information.

Authentication type:
Password: Use the password provided.
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI): Use the SSH Key uploaded with this credential.
User name:
User name to access the computer system.
When Authentication type is Password:
Password:
Password to access the computer system.
Confirm password:
Enter the password again.
When Authentication type is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI):
Passphrase:
Passphrase associated with the provided SSH key if the key is encrypted.
Confirm passphrase:
Enter the passphrase again.
SSH Key:
Select SSH key file to upload.
Computer System (Windows)
User name:
User name to access the computer system.
Password:
Password to access the computer system.
Confirm password:
Enter the password again.
Network Element (SNMP)
Community string:
The community string for the network device.
Confirm community string:
Enter the community string again.
Network Element (SNMPV3)
User name:
User name associated with SNMPv3 credential.
Password:
Password associated with the user name.
Note: The Password field must have a value only when Authentication protocol is MD5 or SHA.
Confirm password:
Enter the password again.
Private password:
It is the optional password for encrypting the SNMPv3 messages.
Note: The Password field must have a value only when Authentication protocol is MD5 or SHA.
Confirm private password:
Enter the private password again.
Authentication protocol:
The type of authentication protocol that is used by SNMP.
Cisco Device
User name:
User name to access the device.
Password:
The password for the Cisco device.
Confirm password:
Enter the password again.
Enable password:
The Enable password for the Cisco device.
Confirm enable password:
Enter the enable password again.
Cisco Works
User name:
User name to access the server.
Password:
Password to access the server.
Confirm password:
Enter the password again.

Select Scope Set Restriction

Select whether you want to use the specified access information for all defined discovery scopes or to use the access information for a discovery Scope Set that you select.

This pane is not visible when the Credential Type is Computer System and the Authentication Type is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). In this case, the credential must be restricted to a specific scope set.

Use access information across all scopes
Uses the access information across all resources of the discovery Scope.
Limit access information to a specified Scope
Restricts the access information to certain systems.

Restrict To Selected Scope Set

Select the Scope Set that you want to use for this credential.

This pane is not visible when the Select Scope Set Restriction is set to Use access information across all scopes.

Test access credentials

Test the access credentials that you provided in the Access Credentials section, and verify whether they are correct. Currently, you can test credentials for the Computer System, Computer System (Windows), and SNMP (SNMPv1 and SNMPv3) credential types only. The Test function for the Computer System credential type supports the following devices:
  • Devices which use SSH or Telnet based authentication
  • XIV®
  • DS6000™ & DS8000®
  • VMware ESXi
  • VMware vCenter Server
  • EMC CLARiiON / VNX / VMAX via EMC SMI-S
  • IBM TS3100 / TS3200
  • IBM TS3310
  • IBM TS3500
  • IBM TS4500
  • IBM TS7700
  • IBM DS3000, DS4000, and DS5000 if password protected
  • Windows
  • Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS)

To test the credentials you provided, complete the following steps:

  1. Enter an IP address or host name of the computer system against which you want to test the credentials.
  2. Click Test.

Click Save to save the modified credential.

Click Cancel to exit without saving.
