New VMware Discovery Credentials

Use this page to create new discovery credentials for an existing VMware Dynamic Scope Set.

Name

  • Name: Enter the name for this credential.
  • Type: Displays the type of the credential.
    • VMware vCenter Server or ESXi
    • Linux virtual machines
    • Windows virtual machines
  • Scope set: Displays the VMware Dynamic Scope Set that this credential is associated with.

Enter Access Information

When credential type is VMware vCenter Server or ESXi, or Windows virtual machines:
  1. Enter the User name that is used to authenticate when connecting to the VMware vCenter Server or ESXi, or Windows virtual machines.
  2. Enter the Password and Confirm password.
When credential type is Linux virtual machines:
  1. Select the Authentication type.
    • Password: Use the password provided.
    • PKI (Public Key Infrastructure): Use the SSH Key uploaded with this credential.

    Note: Only one SSH key per credential type is allowed. If a new SSH key is assigned to the credential type when the VMware Dynamic Scope Set set is modified, the new SSH key replaces the existing SSH key.

  2. Enter the User name that is used to authenticate when connecting to Linux virtual machines.
  3. When Authentication type is Password:
    • Enter the Password and Confirm password.
  4. When Authentication type is PKI:
    • Enter the Passphrase and Confirm passphrase if the SSH key is encrypted.
    • Select the file to upload for the SSH Key.

Test access credentials

(Optional) Test the access credentials that you provided in the Access Credentials section, and verify whether they are correct.
  1. Enter the IP address or host name of the target VMware vCenter Server or ESXi, or virtual machine to test.
  2. Click Test Credential to test the credential.

Click Save to save your changes.

Click Cancel to exit without saving your changes.
