IBM® Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 554032 Readme File
Abstract
P103686 P103657 P103658 P103659. This fix allows loaning on owned hosts by GSLA owners in a host pool to improve resource utilization within the host pool, and includes a change to the guarantee policy query output (bresources) to display the owners for hosts that are included in the pool. This fix also addresses some related performance issues.
Description
Readme documentation for IBM® Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 554032 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.
This fix addresses the following issue:
1. When a host guarantee policy is configured and a host is allocated to a service class, jobs that do not belong to that service class are prohibited from using the host, even through loaning. This fix allows host resources to be loaned out even after the host is allocated to a service class. This can help increase the resource utilization in your cluster. To enable this feature, add the keyword LOAN_ALLOCATED_HOSTS to the LOAN_POLICIES parameter in the GuaranteedResourcePool section of the lsb.resources file. For example:
Begin GuaranteedResourcePool
NAME = helloWorld
TYPE = hosts
DISTRIBUTION = ([sc1, 3])
LOAN_POLICIES = QUEUES[all] LOAN_ALLOCATED_HOSTS
End GuaranteedResourcePool
Additionally, the bresources -g -l -m option is enhanced for host-type guarantee pools to display the service class to which each host in a pool is allocated. This additional output is seen only when SIMPLIFIED_GUARANTEE=Y is set in the lsb.params file.
2. Modifying running jobs triggers an mbatchd resource update, which slows down LSF.
3. When submitting a job from an expired floating client or after a master lim restart/reconfig operation, mbatchd rejects the request and blocks the client for a few minutes.
4. ‘busers all' is unresponsive for a few minutes when the cluster has a few thousand running jobs and users or user groups.
