IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 546423 Readme File

Abstract

P103523. This fix introduces a parameter named LSF_GPU_RESOURCE_IGNORE in lsf.conf to enable LSF to remove some GPU resources from mbatchd to improve performance.

Description

Readme documentation for IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 546423 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.

This fix addresses the following issue:

LSF has GPU resources that are not used for GPU scheduling (including gpu_error, gpu_status, gpu_model, and gpu_mode), but these GPU resources are included in LSF resources, which affects LSF performance.

In this fix, LSF introduces a parameter named LSF_GPU_RESOURCE_IGNORE to enable LSF to remove some GPU resources from the mbatchd daemon.

If LSF_GPU_RESOURCE_IGNORE=Y is set in lsf.conf, LSF ignores these GPU resources to improve LSF performance so that users cannot get GPU resource information from LSF commands such as lsload -l, lsload -s, and lshosts -l. Users can still get a host's GPU information by using the lsload -gpu, lsload -gpuload, lshosts -gpu, or bhosts -gpu command options.

Note: This patch affects RTM. If LSF_GPU_RESOURCE_IGNORE is enabled, RTM cannot show GPU information. A future patch for RTM will resolve this issue.
