Readme File for IBM® Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 Interim Fix 548411
Readme File for: IBM Spectrum Symphony
Product Release: 7.2.1
Update Name: Interim Fix 548411
Fix ID: sym-7.2.1-build548411
Publication Date: May 18 2020
This interim fix includes the following enhancements to improve VEMKD efficiency when removing a host request:
- Ensures that VEMKD will not request the slave LIM to shut down the host when the host becomes unavailable or is removed from the cluster.
- Introduces a new parameter, EGO_RECV_LIM_TIMEOUT, in the ego.conf configuration file, to support the maximum time, in seconds, for VEMKD to receive a reply from LIM when VEMKD handles a remove host request.
- If has been more than 10 minutes between the time VEMKD receives the shutdown host request to the time it handles the request, creates a NOTICE level log.

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix to your cluster.
System requirements
Linux x86_64
Installation
a. Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and shut down all master candidate hosts:
$ egosh ego shutdown hostname
b. On each management host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), download the egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build548411.tar.gz package to, for example, the /symfixes directory.
c. On each management host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), run the egoinstallfixes command to install the egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build548411.tar.gz package:
$ egoinstallfixes /symfixes/egocore-3.7.0_x86_64_build548411.tar.gz
d. (Optional) On each management host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), configure the EGO_RECV_LIM_TIMEOUT parameter in the $EGO_CONFDIR/ego.conf file. This sets the maximum time for VEMKD to receive a reply from LIM when VEMKD handles a remove host request.
Valid values are any integer greater than 0 and less than or equal to 60, and the unit is in seconds.
For example, configure the timeout to 5 seconds:
EGO_RECV_LIM_TIMEOUT=5
If it is not configured, the default timeout is 20 seconds.
e. From the master host, start all master candidate hosts:
$ egosh ego start hostname
5. Uninstallation
If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from your cluster.
a. Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and shut down all master candidate hosts:
$ egosh ego shutdown hostname
b. On each management host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), roll back this interim fix:
$ egoinstallfixes -r 548411
c. (Optional) On each management host (or just one host if you are using a shared file system), delete the EGO_RECV_LIM_TIMEOUT parameter in the $EGO_CONFDIR/ego.conf file.
d. From the master host, start all master candidate hosts:
$ egosh ego start hostname
