Description

Readme documentation for IBM Spectrum LSF Suite 10.2.0.9 and IBM Spectrum Computing Suite for HPA 10.2.0.9 Fix 542246 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.

This fix includes the following issue:

In existing package guarantee policy, the LSF administrator has to choose a package size for a guarantee policy on a set of hosts. To be effective, the package size must be greater than or equal to the requirements of a single job given a guarantee in the pool. Jobs might remain pending even when there are sufficient slots and memory available on a host to allow the job to run.
This fix introduces a new scheduling algorithm for package and slot type guarantees to replace the previous behavior and avoid the previous problems with resource utilization. To enable this fix, set SIMPLIFIED_GUARANTEE = Y in the lsb.params file. LSF partitions the hosts within each guarantee package or slot pool into owner and shared hosts based on the configured guarantees.

This fix introduces the following improvements to LSF:

1. LSF now supports queue-based preemption in package and slot type guarantees where higher priority jobs can preempt jobs from shared hosts.
2. For host and license pools, queue based preemption is supported for owner jobs.
3. Improvements to the bresources command output for package and slot type guarantees to make the policy easier to understand.
4. Jobs with borrowed resources from the GSLA pool are marked and loaning usage information is displayed with the bjobs -l command.
5. The RETAIN keyword is replaced with IDLE_BUFFER in the GuaranteedResourcePool section of the lsb.resources file.
