Dynamically updating an application profile fragment in IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.1.2, specifically removing the session type and service simultaneously when tasks are still running, causes the SSM to enter a bad state. This interim fix provides a resolution for this issue.

4.   Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix in your cluster.

System requirements

Linux x86_64

Installation

a.      Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and disable your applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin     

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.      Log on to each management host in the cluster and back up the following file, which will be replaced by this interim fix:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1.2/linux-x86_64/etc/ssm

c.      On each management host, copy the sym-7.1.2.0_x86_64_build534455.tar.gz package and install the interim fix:

> tar zxfo sym-7.1.2.0_x86_64_build534455.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

d.      Verify the installation with the ssm -V command, for example:

> ssm -V

e.      From the master host, enable your applications:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>

5.   Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix in your cluster.

a.     Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and disable your applications:

> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.     Log on to each management host in the cluster and restore the following file from your backup:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1.2/linux-x86_64/etc/ssm

c.      From the master host, enable your applications:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>
