Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and add the Spark package to your cluster.

System requirements

Linux x86_64, Linux ppc64le

Prerequisite

IBM Spectrum Conductor 2.3.0 must be installed on a supported operating system. For details, see Installing and upgrading IBM Spectrum Conductor.

Installation

a.      On your client host, download and decompress the sc-2.3.0.0_build525703.tar.gz package, for example:

> mkdir -p /tmp/fix525703

> tar zoxf sc-2.3.0.0_build525703.tar.gz -C /tmp/fix525703

b.      Launch your web browser and clear the browser cache.

c.      Navigate to the cluster management console and log in as an administrator.

d.      Add the Spark 2.4.3 package to your cluster.

a)     Click Workload > Spark > Version Management.

b)     Click Add.

c)      Click Browse and select the /tmp/fix525703/Spark2.4.3-Conductor2.3.0.tgz package.

d)     Click Add.

Configuration

a.      Go to Workload > Spark > Notebook Management.

b.      Click Configure.

c.      On the Environment Variables tab, add 2.4.3 in the "supported_spark_versions" text box, for example:

supported_spark_versions: 2.0.1, 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.2.0, 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3, 2.3.1, 2.3.3, 2.4.3

d.      Click Update Notebook.

e.      Click Go to Instance Group List.

f.        Create a new Spark instance group that uses the new Spark version package. For details, see Creating Spark instance groups.
