When common data is transferred using direct data transfer in an IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.0.2 cluster, the client process may not be able to get common data from the file on disk correctly under race conditions when multiple service processes require a session’s common data at the same time. This interim fix resolves this issue.

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix in your cluster.

System requirements

o   Linux x86_64

Installing on Developer Edition (DE) hosts

o   Install this interim fix on Linux DE hosts in the cluster:

a)      Log on to each Linux DE host in your cluster as the cluster administrator. Ensure that no client processes are running, and backup the following files for recovery purpose:

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib/libsoambase.so

b)      Download the symde-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build509044.tar.gz package and install the fix:

$ tar zxfo symde-7.2.0.2_x86_64_build509044.tar.gz -C $SOAM_HOME

c)      Check the modified time of the following files to check whether the fix was installed correctly:

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib/libsoambase.so

Installing on client hosts

o   Install this interim fix on Linux client hosts in the cluster:

a)     Log on to each Linux client host in your cluster as the cluster administrator. Ensure that no client processes are running, and backup the following files for recovery purpose:

$SOAM_HOME/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/lib/libsoambase.so

b)     Download the symclnt-7.2.0.2.x86_64_build509044.tar.gz package and install the fix:

$ tar zxfo symclnt-7.2.0.2.x86_64_build509044.tar.gz -C $SOAM_HOME

c)      Check the modified time of the following files to check whether the fix was installed correctly:

$SOAM_HOME/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/lib/libsoambase.so

5.    Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix from your cluster.

Uninstalling on DE hosts 

o   Log on to each Linux DE host as the cluster administrator and restore the following files from your backup:

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/7.2/linux-x86_64/lib/libsoambase.so

Uninstalling on client hosts 

o   Log on to each Linux client host as the cluster administrator and roll back the following files from your backup:

$SOAM_HOME/lib64/libsoambase.so

$SOAM_HOME/lib/libsoambase.so
