IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 507703 Readme File
Abstract
This fix enables mbatchd to kill jobs that run over the defined RUNLIMIT for a long period of time.
Description
Readme documentation for IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 507703 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.
This fix addresses the following feathure:
This fix introduces a new parameter KILL_JOBS_OVER_RUMLIMIT in the lsb.params file, which enables mbatchd to kill jobs that run over the defined RUNLIMIT for a long period of time.
KILL_JOBS_OVER_RUMLIMIT =<interval>[:wait time].
Normally, the sbatchd daemon kills any job that reaches the RUNLIMIT value. However, under some exceptional conditions, the job still shows RUN status in the mbatchd daemon. This parameter enables mbatchd to clean up or remove jobs that have already reached RUNLIMIT for a long period of time. At each check interval, mbatchd checks if any job runs over the defined RUNLIMIT by a value greater than the wait time. If there are jobs over this value, mbatchd directly kills the job.
For any jobs that are killed because of this parameter setting, LSF logs an additional kill reason message, which is shown in "bjobs -l" or "bhist -l" output. This kill reason message is in the following format:
"Kill Reason: Job killed due to KILL_JOBS_OVER_RUMLIMIT. Runtime <xx> minutes, effective runlimit <xx> minutes.".
Note: Rerunnable jobs are also killed.
