New Features

  • Introduced in interim fix 1: Users can now securely share documents stored in IBM FileNet Content Manager repositories with external users, using the new External Share feature. For details on this feature, please refer to the technote http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.ws?uid=ibm10719727. Please refer to the install instructions below regarding the configuration tasks that need to be run in order to use the External Share feature. Please note that the External Share feature cannot be used in an IBM Content Navigator instance that has the Task Manager component. If both features are needed, then they need to be configured in separate instances of IBM Content Navigator.

  • Introduced in interim fix 1: Users can now open a specific page number of a document using the Daeja Virtual viewer by appending a new parameter, 'pageNumber' to the bookmark link (URL) of the document. Here is an example of the URL with the parameter appended:

    http://hostname/navigator/bookmark.jsp?desktop=desktopname&repositoryId=repo&repositoryType=p8&docid=Document%2C%7B6C4FF145-4E7E-42AC-8BF7-76A14840493B%7D%2C%7B841F8D38-3E4B-470B-BF93-089811F4F7DB%7D&mimeType=application%2Fpdf&template_name=Document&version=released&vsId=%7BF718009A-E200-4CFF-9BBA-F7ED94D57F5E%7D&pageNumber=2

  • Introduced in interim fix 1: Users can now display child components of the target class that is selected in the Entry Template definition for IBM Content Manager repositories. If the selected class has child components, the option "Show the child components" is displayed. If this option is selected, then the child components will be displayed to users. However, a property layout cannot be configured for the child components. If this option is not selected, then the child components are not displayed and users cannot modify any values for child components when using this entry template. The child components are displayed by default for existing entry templates that have classes containing child components.

  • Introduced in interim fix 1: With this interim fix, the Edit Service client now supports all the SSO methods that are currently supported by this version of IBM Content Navigator.

  • Introduced in this interim fix: An administrator can now configure the page size for worklists to any number greater than or equal to 50. By default the page size for worklist is 200. This settings applies to IBM FileNet Content Manager and IBM Content Manager repositories. This page size is only applicable to work list. It does not apply to paging in other features. To configure the worklist page size:
    • Open the administration desktop.
    • Select "worklistPageSize" from the Name drop down. Fill in any page size number in the "Value". Click "Create" and save Settings.
    • Refresh browser

Known problems, restrictions, and solutions

Known problems, restrictions, and solutions that affect administration and usage of interim fixes are documented as techdocs in the product support knowledge base. Use the following link to query the product support knowledge base by searching for the product and version number: https://www.ibm.com/support/home.

In addition, the interim fix includes the following known problems:
Java and Google Chrome
Some features of IBM Content Navigator use Java applets. If you access IBM Content Navigator from Google Chrome, Version 42 or later, Chrome displays a message that the plug-in is blocked if you use an applet-based feature.
Starting with Google Chrome, Version 42, the Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) is disabled by default. Web applications that use Java applets do not function properly unless NPAPI is re-enabled. For more information on configuring NPAPI-based Java plug-ins under Google Chrome, Version 42, see:
Oracle Java Runtime Environment security warnings

You might see security warnings and update requests when using certain versions of Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

For information about issues with Oracle JRE, see http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21640073

The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool is not completely translated in some languages
If you use the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool in the following locales, you might see a mix of English and non-English strings:
  • Arabic
  • Greek
  • Hebrew
  • Kazakh
  • Vietnamese
Disabling document Preview and Open options

For security reasons, you might want to prevent users from opening or previewing certain types of documents, such as HTML documents, by setting the No viewer option. When this option is set and users attempt to preview or open a document of the file type you specified, they will receive a message informing them that the document cannot be opened, it can only be downloaded.

Additional Known problems and restrictions are contained in the 3.0.4.0 Release Notes at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEUEX_3.0.4/com.ibm.eucrelnotes.doc/eucrm003.htm
