IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 489947 Readme File

Abstract

P102544. This fix prevents the blimits command from reporting license numbers after the job's license duration expired.

Description

Readme documentation for IBM Spectrum LSF 10.1 Fix 489947 including installation-related instructions, prerequisites and co-requisites, and list of fixes.

This fix addresses the following issue:

When licenses are configured with a user limit in the lsb.resources file, the blimits command still reports license numbers after the job's license duration in the rusage string expired. This makes more jobs pend because of the limits being reached, but the user does not actually use that many licenses.

After this fix, License Scheduler triggers LSF to modify a job's rusage if the license's duration expired. The following new parameter is added to the Feature section in the lsf.licensescheduler file to control this behavior:

RUSAGE_EXPIRE_MODIFY

Syntax

RUSAGE_EXPIRE_MODIFY=Y | N

Description:

If enabled, when job's license duration expires, License Scheduler triggers LSF to modify the job's rusage, reducing licenses to that amount that is exactly in use.

Default:

N

Note:

1. This parameter does not support taskman and LSF versions older to 9.1.2

2. If a local and remote license feature use the same name, LSF treats both license features as the same, and License Scheduler triggers LSF to modify the job's rusage for either license feature, even if one of the features does not have RUSAGE_EXPIRE_MODIFY set. To prevent this issue, make sure that the license features, local or remote, use the same RUSAGE_EXPIRE_MODIFY setting.
