When a service instance (SI) constantly restarts between Invoke and Bind, the session manager (SSM) in Platform Symphony 7.1 Fix Pack 1 does not release slots even after the session is killed, making slots unusable for other sessions or applications. This interim fix provides a resolution for this issue.

4.     Installation and configuration

Follow the instructions in this section to download and install this interim fix in your cluster.

System requirements

Linux x86_64

Installation

a.      Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator, disable your applications:

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.      Log on to each compute host in the cluster and back up the following file, which will be replaced by this interim fix:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/sim

c.      On each compute host, copy the sym7.1_lnx26-lib23-x64_build475484.tar.gz package and install the interim fix:

> tar zxfo sym7.1_lnx26-lib23-x64_build475484.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

d.      Run the sim -V command to verify the installation. For example:

> sim -V

e.      Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator, enable your applications:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>

5.     Uninstallation

If required, follow the instructions in this section to uninstall this interim fix in your cluster.

a.      Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator, disable your applications:

> soamcontrol app disable all

b.      Log on to each compute host in the cluster and restore the following file from your backup:

$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/sim

c.      Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator, enable your applications:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>
