The symmkdir command in Spectrum Symphony 7.1.2 uses the umask value from the environment variable SOAM_DEFAULT_SI_UMASK and creates new folders with incorrect permissions. This interim fix provides a resolution for this issue.

Installation
a. Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and disable all applications:
> soamcontrol app
disable all
b. Log on to each management host in the cluster and back up the following
file, which will be replaced by this interim fix:
$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1.2/linux-x86_64/etc/symmkdir
c. On each management host, decompress the sym-7.1.2.0_x86_64_build455865.tar.gz package:
> tar zxfo sym-7.1.2.0_x86_64_build455865.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP
d. Ensure that the owner of the symmkdir file is
the same as the one for SD, and then run chmod 4xxx symmkdir to ensure that the symmkdir file can be
executed by all the SSMs with the owner for SD.
Note: “xxx” is the permission that allows all the SSMs to run symmkdir. Configure it based on your environment.
e. Enable your applications:
> soamcontrol
app enable <appName>

required)
a. Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and disable all
applications:
> soamcontrol
app disable all
b. Log on to each management host in the cluster and restore the following
file from your backup:
$EGO_TOP/soam/7.1.2/linux-x86_64/etc/symmkdir
c. Enable your applications:
>
soamcontrol app enable <appName>
