Abstract
Idle slots in
SSM remain despite sessions being closed.
Description
Because of a
race condition in SIM, even after all sessions in SSM are closed, idle slots
remain in SSM. These slots cannot be used to run workload.
This interim fix applies only to the following platform:
Windows 64-bit

4. Installation and configuration
4.1 Before installation
Stop the cluster. Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:
C:\>soamcontrol app disable all
C:\>egosh service stop all
C:\>egosh ego shutdown all

Installation steps
Copy the soam7.1_win-x64_build428035.msp package
to your compute hosts and then do one of the following steps:
Interactive installation
Double-click the
Platform Symphony MSP package to run the Platform Symphony installer.
Silent installation
Run the Platform Symphony installer
from the command line using the following command:
C:\>msiexec /update <Sym_package_name_path> /l*v
<Sym_install_log> /norestart /quiet
REINSTALLMODE=omus
Where:
- Sym_package_name_path is the fully qualified file name of
the MSP package in this release.
- Sym_install_log is the log file for the Platform
Symphony upgrade.
For example, to update
a Windows 64-bit compute host, run the following command:
C:\>msiexec /update C:\soam7.1_win-x64_build428035.msp /l*v
updateSym.log /norestart /quiet REINSTALLMODE=omus

After installation
1. Verify the installation.
The following is an example of verifying the installation by running sim -V:
>sim -V

Start the cluster and enable the application.
Log
on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:
C:\>egosh ego start all
C:\>soamcontrol app enable <appName>

Uninstallation
1.
Stop the cluster.
Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:
C:\>soamcontrol app disable all
C:\>egosh service stop all
C:\>egosh ego shutdown all

Uninstall.
You can use Microsoft Windows Control
Panel (Control Panel > Programs and
Features > View installed updates) to roll back to a previous Platform
Symphony package on a Windows host.
You can also roll back Platform Symphony
using the command line:
a) Get the
Platform Symphony package for Platform Symphony 7.1 (for example, soam7.1_win-x64_build428035.msp in this case).
b) Use following
command to rollback Platform Symphony:
C:\>msiexec
/uninstall <Sym_SP_path> /package <Sym_7.1_path> /norestart /quiet
/l*v <Sym_rollback_log>
Where:
- Sym_SP_name_path is the fully qualified
file name of the MSP package in this release.
- Sym_7.1_path is the fully qualified
file name of the Platform Symphony 7.1 MSI package.
- Sym_rollback_log is the log file for
the Platform Symphony rollback.
For example, to roll back Platform
Symphony on a Windows compute host, run:
C:\>msiexec
/uninstall C:\soam7.1_win-x64_build428035.msp /package C:\soam7.1_win-x64.msi
/norestart /quiet /l*v rollbackSym.log

Start the cluster and enable the application.
Log on to the master host as the cluster
administrator and run:
C:\>egosh ego start all
C:\>soamcontrol app enable <appName>
