IBM Platform Symphony 7.1.1 Interim Fix #414752 Readme File

Abstract

The behavior provided with RFE58978 for Platform Symphony 7.1.1 does not behave as expected. The SOAM_TASK_RETRY_LIMIT_FOR_HOST_UNAVAILABLE counter does not increase on compute hosts.

 

Description

After enabling RFE58978 for Platform Symphony 7.1.1, you should be able to increase the SOAM_TASK_RETRY_LIMIT_FOR_HOST_UNAVAILABLE counter on compute hosts so that when the counter reaches the value specified, tasks fail. However, currently, when compute hosts crash, the SOAM_TASK_RETRY_LIMIT_FOR_HOST_UNAVAILABLE counter does not increase.

 

This fix applies only to Linux 64-bit host.

4.1 Prerequisites

 Apply and enable RFE58978 on top of Platform Symphony 7.1.1

 

4.2 Before installation

1.  Disable all applications.

> egosh user logon –u Admin –x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all

 

2.  Back up files.

Log on to all management hosts in the cluster and back up the following file that will be replaced by this fix:

> $SOAM_SERVERDIR/ssm

4.3 Installation steps

Log on to all management hosts in the cluster and decompress the tar.gz file under the $EGO_TOP directory:

> tar zxfo pssasetup2015_linux-x86_64_build414752.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

4.4 After installation

1. Verify the installation.

    The following is an example of verifying the installing by running the ssm -V command:

> ssm -V

2. Enable the application.

> egosh user logon –u Admin –x Admin

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>

4.5 Uninstallation

1. Disable all applications.

> egosh user logon –u Admin –x Admin

> soamcontrol app disable all

2. Uninstall.

Log on to all management hosts in cluster and restore the backup file for the following binary:

> $SOAM_SERVERDIR/ssm

3. Enable the application:

> egosh user logon –u Admin –x Admin

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>
