5. Installation and configuration

5.1  Before installation

1.  Disable all applications and stop SD and RS services

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> soamcontrol app disable all
> egosh service stop SD RS

2.  Back up files

Back up the following files on all management and compute hosts in the cluster:

> $EGO_TOP/soam/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/sd
> $EGO_TOP/soam/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm
> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/rs

5.2  Installation steps

1.  Log on to all management and compute hosts in the cluster and decompress the sym6.1.1_lnx26-lib23-x64_build407611.tar.gz package

> tar zxfo sym6.1.1_lnx26-lib23-x64_build407611.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

5.3  After installation

1.  Verify the installation

Run:

> rs -V

The following is an example output of successfully running the command:

2.  Start SD and RS services and enable applications

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> egosh service start SD RS
> soamcontrol app enable <AppName>

5.4  Uninstalling

1.  Disable all applications and stop SD and RS services

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> soamcontrol app disable all
> egosh service stop SD RS

2.  Log on to all management and compute hosts in the cluster and restore the backup files for the following binaries:

> $EGO_TOP/soam/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/sd
> $EGO_TOP/soam/6.1.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/ssm
> $EGO_TOP/1.2.8/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/rs 

3.  Start SD and RS services and enable application

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
> egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
> egosh service start SD RS
> soamcontrol app enable <AppName>
