Apply this fix to add additional operating system support to your IBM Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition 4.2.1 environment, including: RHEL 7.1 ppc64 support on the management node, and RHEL 7.2 ppc64le (PowerVM) support on compute nodes.

By applying Fix 404579, compute nodes can be provisioned with an image profile that uses a RHEL 7.2 ppc64le OS distribution.

Provisioning RHEL 7.2 ppc64le compute node on RHEL 7.1 ppc64be management node.

4. System requirements

Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition 4.2.1 must be installed on an RHEL 7.1 ppc64 management node.
Compute node must be a PowerVM LPAR.

5. Installation and configuration

Applying this fix involves the following steps:

5.1 Download the "pcm-4.2.1-build404579" fix package from IBM Fix Central.

5.2 Upload the fix tar file to the Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition management node.

5.3 On the Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition management node, extract the fix tar file.

# mkdir -p /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579
# tar -zxvf pcm_4.2.1_404579_fix.tar.gz -C /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579

5.4 Install the fix.

1. Create a backup of the files affected by this fix.

# mkdir -p /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579/backup
# cp /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/data/discinfo.pm /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579/backup/discinfo.pm.orig

2. Then, run the following command to replace the discinfo.pm.

# cp /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579/discinfo.pm /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/data

3. If high availability is enabled, run the following command on the standby management node. Otherwise, omit this step.

# cp /opt/pcm/pcm_4.2.1_build404579/discinfo.pm /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/data

5.5 Enable cross-architecture provision environment.

1. Download the Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition 4.2.1 ppc64le ISO package on the management node.

2. Run the pcm-crossdistro-tool command to enable cross-distribution provisioning.

# pcm-crossdistro-tool -i /root/pcm-4.2.1.power.le.rhel.iso

5.6 Add the RHEL 7.2 ppc64le operating system to Platform Cluster Manager Standard Edition as an OS distribution, see Adding an OS distribution

5.7 Configure and add the CEC, see Configure and add Power Systems CEC.

5.8 Adding nodes using a node information file.  Make sure specify a node information file, a RHEL 7.2 ppc64le image profile, and the IBM_System_p_CEC hardware profile. The node information file must include:  MAC address, CEC and LPAR ID. For example:
