After you have downloaded the xCAT-pEnergy compressed tar file for the relevant platform, follow these steps to install the package:
1. Verify that all the prerequisite packages have been installed
Package xCAT-pEnergy has a dependency on two packages: curl and libxm2. These two packages are installed by the Operating System by default for RedHat and SLES. For AIX, you need to install them manually.
2. Uncompress the downloaded xCAT-pEnergy compressed tar file.
3. Extract the xCAT-pEnergy rpm from the tar file.
4. Install the xCAT-pEnergy rpm
Install the xCAT-pEnergy package by running following command:
rpm -ih xCAT-pEnergy- < version > . < os > . < platform > .rpmThe xCAT energy management plugin gives the administrator of POWER clusters the ability to query and change the power settings for each server. The actions are invoked via an xCAT command called renergy which can be used in scripts or directly from the command line. The command can be run against multiple POWER servers in one invocation and will fan out the requests as efficiently as possible.
The xCAT-pEnergy-1.1-2.1 is the version which can support following Power machines:
The xCAT-pEnergy can only be used together with the xCAT product. xCAT-pEnergy works as a plugin of the xCAT product. The xCAT 'renergy' command is the external interface for the customer to query or set energy management options for the Power system.
This package depends on two open source libraries curl and libxml2. Both of them should be installed before installing the xCAT-pEnergy.
This version of Energy Management Plugin requires xCAT 2.7.9 or later.
For the new supported hardware and functions of each xCAT release, please refer to the release notes of xCAT.
