IBM Platform Symphony 7.1 Interim Fix #391507 Readme File
Abstract
This full package includes three enhancement fixes (371401, 386487 and 376809) and one usability enhancement for IBM BigInsights V4.1.
Also, this full package resolved four issues for IBM BigInsights V4.1.This fix applies to Linux-ppc64le and Linux-x86-64 platforms.

2. Added a script to remove Platform Symphony from Ambari Cluster.
3. Resolved a start sequence issue between Platform Symphony and MAPREDUCE2 after integrating Platform Symphony with Ambari.
4. Resolved a crash issue for MapReduce Client.
5. Resolved a core dump issue for process "execproxy".
6. Resolved an issue for Spark workload failure with the spark-submit command.

3. Installation and configuration
3.1 Prerequisites
Before installing Platform Symphony, the IBM Open Platform for Apache Hadoop cluster must be installed and running normally.
3.2 Installation steps
1. Stop all services (except Spectrum Scale if Spectrum Scale was installed) from the Ambari GUI.
2. Select a local HTTP server that all hosts can access. Set /var/www/html as the root folder.
3. On the HTTP server, create a directory path under /var/www/html, for example: repos/Symphony/RHEL/7.1.0/.
4. Decompress the Platform Symphony tar.gz installation package into the 7.1.0 directory you just created.
5. Install the Platform Symphony service stack on the Ambari server. For example:
./sym7.1_iop4.1-linux-ppc64le.bin or ./sym7.1_iop4.1-linux-x86_64.bin
6. Copy the Platform Symphony entitlement file to one of the following directories on the Ambari server:
· For IOP 4.1 with the Platform Symphony service stack, copy the entitlement file to: /var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1/services/SYMPHONY/package/resources.
· For IOP 4.1 with the Spectrum Scale and Platform Symphony service stack, copy the entitlement file to: /var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1.SpectrumScale/services/SYMPHONY/package/resources.
7. Update the baseurl in the repository file with your local HTTP server URL:
· For IOP 4.1 with the Platform Symphony service stack, edit /var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1/services/SYMPHONY/package/resources/ibm-platform-symphony.repo.
· For IOP 4.1 with the Platform Symphony and Spectrum Scale service stack, edit /var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1.SpectrumScale/services/SYMPHONY/package/resources/ibm-platform-symphony.repo.
For example, update the base URL to:
baseurl=http://<host>:[port]/repos/Symphony/RHEL/7.1.0/
8. Restart the Ambari server:
ambari-server restart
9. Install Platform Symphony using the "Add Service Wizard" from the Ambari GUI.
3.3 Uninstallation
1. Stop all services except Platform Symphony from the Ambari GUI.
2. Perform the Platform Symphony un-integration from the Ambari GUI.
3. Remove Platform Symphony using the remove_symphony.sh script:
· For IOP with the Platform Symphony service stack:
/var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1/services/SYMPHONY/package/scripts/remove_symphony.sh
· For IOP with the Platform Symphony and Spectrum Scale service stack:
/var/lib/ambari-server/resources/stacks/BigInsights/4.1.SpectrumScale/services/SYMPHONY/package/scripts/remove_symphony.sh
