Best practices
Cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks can originate from any untrusted source of data, such as cookies or Web services, whenever the data is not sufficiently sanitized before including in a page. Caution users from providing sensitive information, or accepting untrusted sources of data while using their browsers.
If using a supported Internet Explorer browser, also caution users from disabling the Enable XSS filter option in their browser (Internet options > Security > Custom level). This filter assists in preventing cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks so that malicious scripts are not introduced into otherwise trusted web sites.
