APAR IV81398 This document provides a set of instructions for applying Java eFix service to ESS. It is assumed that person carrying out the steps is familiar with ESS systems. This eFix applies to systems running ESS release 2.5.x. Note: - Node names ems1, gssio1, and gssio2 are examples and each environment may have unique naming. eFix Procedure 1. Prerequisites 2. Stop GUI Services in EMS node 3. Update Java rpm and restart GUI Prerequisites Complete prerequisites before proceeding. - Obtain eFix package. - Complete current GUI tasks if any Install eFix package 1. Unpack eFix package in EMS node $ cd /tmp $ tar -zxvf APAR_IV81398_ESS25xJava.tgz 2. Check current installed GUI rpm $ rpm -qa | grep java $ java-1.6.0-ibm-1.6.0.16.15-1jpp.ppc64 Stop GUI and upgrade Java 1. On EMS node stop GUI services. $ systemctl stop gpfsgui 2. Save ZIMonSensors.cfg and ZIMonCollector.cfg for later reference if needed. $ cp /opt/IBM/zimon/bin/ZIMonSensors.cfg /tmp $ cp /opt/IBM/zimon/ZIMonCollector.cfg /tmp 3. Upgrade Java rpms in EMS and IO Server nodes. $ xdcp gss_ppc64 /tmp/java-1.6.0-ibm-1.6.0.16.20-1jpp.ppc64.rpm /tmp $ xdsh ems1,gss_ppc64 "cd /tmp ; yum -y update java-1.6.0-ibm-1.6.0.16.20-1jpp.ppc64.rpm" In this example ems1 is the EMS node name. 4. Start ESS GUI on EMS node. $ systemctl start gpfsgui
