Abstract

The VEMKD process crashes when starting a service in which an execution user is defined but no corresponding consumer execution user is defined.

Description

The VEMKD process crashes when you start a service in which you define an execution user, but do not define a corresponding consumer execution user.

Apply this fix to repair VEMKD process crash.

This fix applies to Linux x86_64 platform.

5. Installation and configuration

5.1 Before installation

1.Shut down the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

 > source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
 > egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
 > soamcontrol app disable all
 > egosh service stop all
 > egosh ego shutdown all

2.Back up files

   Back up the following files on all hosts:

> $EGO_TOP/3.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd
5.2 Installation steps

1.Log on to all hosts in the cluster and decompress the sym7.1_build386792.tar.gz package:

> tar -zxvf sym7.1-build386792.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP
5.3 After installation

1.Verify the installation

 Run:

> vemkd -V

           The following is an example output of successfully running the command:

2.Start the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

5.4 Uninstalling

1.Stop the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

 > source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
 > egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
 > soamcontrol app disable all
 > egosh service stop all
 > egosh ego shutdown all

2.Log on to all hosts in the cluster and restore the backup file for the following binary:

   > $EGO_TOP/3.1/linux2.6-glibc2.3-x86_64/etc/vemkd

1.Start the cluster

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

 > source $EGO_TOP/profile.platform
 > egosh user logon -u Admin -x Admin
 > egosh ego start all
 > soamcontrol app enable $AppName
