The Platform Symphony client may hang when the connection between the Platform Symphony client and SSM is unstable.
 

This interim fix applies only to the following platform:

You must have IBM Platform Symphony 5.1 installed before applying this fix.

5.    Installation and configuration

5.1   Before installation

             1. Disable all applications.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app disable all

2. Back up the file that will be replaced by this fix on Linux client hosts.

lib64/libsoambase.so

5.2   Installation steps

Log in as the cluster administrator and decompress the .tar file to your Platform Symphony client installation directory:

> tar zxfo sym5.1-build381950_lnx26-lib23-x64.tar.gz -C $SOAM_HOME

5.3   After installation

1. Set the API_SSM_CALL_TIMEOUT environment variable for the Platform Symphony client before submitting workload.

Syntax

API_SSM_CALL_TIMEOUT=seconds

Description

Defines the number of seconds that the Platform Symphony API waits to complete the API call to the session manager before it times out.

The timeout value can be any unsigned integer and -1, which is treated specially to specify that the API never times out.

Do not specify zero (0) because then the API never waits and never connects.

Default

-1 (never times out)

Suggestion

Suggest setting the value to 600 seconds or bigger

For example:

API_SSM_CALL_TIMEOUT=600

               2. Enable the application.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>

5.4   Uninstallation

               1. Disable all applications.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app disable all

               2. Restore the backup file.

Restore this backed-up file on all Linux client hosts:

lib64/libsoambase.so

               3. Enable applications.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

> soamcontrol app enable <appName>
