IBM Platform HPC 4.2 Fix 357368 Readme

Abstract

In a high availability environment, LSF service is not started on compute nodes due to the installation directory specified during your Platform HPC installation. If you specified an installation directory other than '/', then '/shared' is not mounted on compute nodes and the LSF service cannot be started. Before you enable high availability, apply Fix 357368 to resolve this issue.

Installation and configuration

6.1 Before installation

1. Download the "phpc_4.2_357368_fix.tar.gz" fix package from IBM Fix Central.
2. Upload the fix tar file to the Platform HPC management node.

6.2 Installation steps

Apply this fix to a non-HA environment, complete the following steps:

1. On the Platform HPC management node and standby management node, extract the fix tar file.
# mkdir -p /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368
# tar -zxvf phpc_4.2_357368_fix.tar.gz -C /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368
2. On the Platform HPC management node and standby management node, create backup of the helper.py file and the precheck.py file. Then, copy the extracted helper.py and precheck.py file to the same location.
    # mv /opt/pcm/lib/python/kusu/ha/helper.py /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368/helper.py.orig
    # mv /opt/pcm/lib/python/kusu/ha/precheck.py /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368/precheck.py.orig
    # cp /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368/helper.py /opt/pcm/lib/python/kusu/ha/helper.py
    # cp /opt/pcm/phpc-4.2-build357368/precheck.py /opt/pcm/lib/python/kusu/ha/precheck.py

Otherwise, if you have already enabled HA before applying this fix, complete the following steps:

1. Run the following commands on the management node:
# cd /shared_phpc/<install_dir>
Note: <install_dir> is the top installation directory that you specified during the Platform HPC installation. For example, if the top installation directory is '/opt', then run the following command: '#cd /shared_phpc/opt'
# mv install ../
# ln -s ../install .
2. Reboot all Platform HPC computer nodes.
