Elastic Storage Server ver 3.0.4 Package Description - Advanced Edition Elastic Storage Server (ESS) Advanced Edition ver 3.0.4 solution is composed of various components tested together for compatibility and correctness. Key components are RHEL, IBM Spectrum Scale RAID for ESS, and Power System Firmware. 1. Summary of changes in ESS ver 3.0.4 a) ESS core - IBM Spectrum Scale RAID Ver 4 Rel 1.0.8 efix18 (4.1.0-8 efix18) - Updated GUI from 3.0.3 b) Support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 From 2.5.x (RHEL 7.0) to 3.0.x (RHEL 7.1) No changes from 3.0.x c) Updated OFED from 2.5.x No changes from 3.0.x d) Updated install toolkit (from 2.5.x) Minor updates from 3.0, 3.0.1 No changes from 3.0.2 e) Updated firmware rpm to support new drives and updated enclosure firmware 2. Additional Information if upgrading from a version earlier than 3.0.2 You must upgrade to ESS ver 3.0.4 level if your client nodes use an InfiniBand network to access ESS. Ver 3.0.4 (as well as version 3.0.2 and 3.0.3) provides a more graceful handling of serious hardware faults generally triggered by overloaded Infiniband adapter and therefore better suited to protect client data from such hardware faults. 3. Known Issues in ver 3.0.4 a) Issue: IBM Spectrum Scale filesystems (ver 4.1.0-8) fail to mount on RHEL 7.1 nodes due to a systemd issue Description: ESS 3.0.x contains IBM Spectrum Scale RAID ver 4.1.0-8 which has a problem mounting on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 due an issue with systemd. Updating cluster nodes to the latest systemd packages will correct the issue. Affects: Cluster filesystem Type: Install or Upgrade Version: Advanced or Standard Affected Nodes: IO Server nodes and EMS nodes Resolution or Action: To workaround this issue do the following: - Connect your cluster nodes to the Red Hat network (RHN) and apply the RHBA-2015-0738 errata prior to mounting your GPFS filesystems. - If your unable to connect to the RHN directly you may download the required rpms and update them manually on each node or create a local yum repository. - The minimum required rpms and levels are: systemd-sysv-208-20.el7_1.2.ppc64.rpm systemd-libs-208-20.el7_1.2.ppc64.rpm systemd-208-20.el7_1.2.ppc64.rpm libgudev1-208-20.el7_1.2.ppc64.rpm The advisory can be found here: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2015-0738.html b) Issue: At very high load the ESS console log will show error messages from the mpt2sas driver (due to an issue in driver management of the PCC64 IOMMU). This is only observed in systems configured with Infiniband network operating at a very high load. You may see messages similar to these in the console log.
