IBM Platform Symphony 6.1.1 Interim Fix 354072 Readme File

Abstract

The Platform Symphony client may encounter de-serialization errors, or can core dump, if the direct data transfer feature is enabled.

Description

If the network is unstable, the Platform Symphony client may encounter a type mismatch error between serialization and de-serialization when receiving task output in direct data transfer mode.

This interim fix applies only to the following platform:

Windows 64-bit

Linux 64-bit

Before apply this fix, ensure you have Platform Symphony 6.1.1 installed.

5.    Installation and configuration

5.1           Before installation

            1. Disable all applications.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

            soamcontrol app disable all

            egosh service stop all

            egosh ego shutdown all

2. Backup binaries.

               Back up the following files on all hosts in cluster if you want to be able to roll back the changes:

On Windows compute hosts:

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb

On Windows client hosts:

5.2           Installation steps

               Copy the corresponding binaries to the following directory on all hosts in cluster:

On Windows compute hosts:

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib\soambase.dll

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib\soambase.lib

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib\soambase.pdb

 

On Windos client hosts:

%SOAM_HOME%\lib64\soambase.dll

On Linux hosts:

For example, on Linux host, extract the sym6.1.1_build354072.tar.gz file to the $EGO_TOP directory:

  # tar zxf sym6.1.1_build354072.tar.gz -C $EGO_TOP

 

5.3           After installation

          Enable the application.

              Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

                        egosh ego start all

                        soamcontrol app enable appName

5.4           Uninstallation

            1. Disable all applications.

Log on to the master host as the cluster administrator and run:

            soamcontrol app disable all

            egosh service stop all

            egosh ego shutdown all

2. Restore binaries.

               Restore the following files on all hosts in cluster with the backed-up files:

On Windows compute hosts:

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.dll

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.lib

%SOAM_HOME%\6.1.1\w2k3_x64-vc7-psdk\lib64\soambase.pdb
